  • Patent number: 10019640
Abstract: An intelligent automatic license plate recognition (IALPR) system implements technical solutions that improve the accuracy of automatic license plate recognition. The IALPR analyzes an image of a vehicle proximate to a toll collection point using optical character recognition (OCR), and determines candidate license plate identifications based, at least in part, on the corresponding OCR confidence level. The IALPR can also perform fingerprinting for candidate license plate images and matching analysis with a knowledge base, resulting in additional confidence levels. The IALPR can also perform behavioral analysis on the candidate license plate identifications, including trip context analysis, historical behavioral analysis, or other analytics. The IALPR can generate an overall confidence level for the candidate license plate identifications responsive to the OCR and vehicle fingerprint confidence levels and the behavioral analysis.

Abstract: Security systems are warned of earthquakes, tornadoes, and other natural disasters. When an early warning system detects a natural disaster, the early warning system alerts a central server. The early warning system alerts the central server to the natural event and its associated geographic area. The central server may then consult a database and determine the security systems operating in a vicinity of the geographic area experiencing the natural event. The central server may thus warn the security systems of the natural event. The security systems may then implement pre-programmed procedures to protect life and property during earthquakes, tornadoes, and other natural disasters.

Abstract: When a driving support electronic control unit (DSECU) determines that a driver of a vehicle is in an abnormal state where the driver loses an ability to drive the vehicle, the DSECU starts driving control under the abnormal state to decelerate the vehicle until the vehicle stops and to sound a horn. In this case, the DSECU measures an elapsed time since the horn starts sounding with a horn timer th, and sets a sounding pattern corresponding to the elapsed time measured. This sounding pattern is set in such a manner that a ratio of a sounding time of the horn per unit time decreases as the elapsed time since the horn starts sounding become longer. Thereby, it becomes possible to properly notify that the driver is in the abnormal state using the horn.

  • Patent number: 9501673
Abstract: A Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) reader is provided that receives a digital input signal, converts the digital input signal to an analog input signal, and determines whether the digital input signal is an unmodulated signal or is modulated with information. When the digital input signal is modulated with information, the RFID reader filters the analog input signal to produce a filtered analog input signal and transmits the filtered signal. When the digital input signal is an unmodulated signal, the RFID reader bypasses the filtering of the analog input signal to produce an unfiltered analog input signal and transmits the unfiltered analog input signal.

  • Patent number: 9356742
Abstract: A method and a system are provided for transmitting data in a motor vehicle by wireless communication. The data from a first transmitting data node is divided, transmitted to a second receiving data node via at least two different communication routes, and reassembled upon being received. Redundant data is generated from the data to be transmitted, the redundant data allowing a reconstruction of the data to be transmitted in the event that a communication route fails. The redundant data and the data to be transmitted are transmitted via the different communication routes.
