Abstract: An illuminable hand-signaling glove preferably includes a body adapted to be positioned at a hand region of the user. Such a body may include a glove. The body may further include a wrist band and a plurality of finger bands connected thereto. The device may further include a plurality of light-emitting sources displayed on an exterior surface of the body, and a mechanism may be included for selectively toggling independent ones of the light-emitting sources between illuminated and non-illuminated modes by selectively pivoting one metacarpal of the user hand region along a plurality of positions defined within the body while maintaining remaining metacarpals of the user hand region at a static position. Such a selectively toggling mechanism preferably includes a manually actuated user interface attached to the exterior surface of the body.

  • Patent number: 7880591
Abstract: A technique is provided for detecting whether consumer abuse has occurred in an electronic device. In accordance with this technique, a system is provided for detecting the occurrence of a consumer abuse event and storing a record thereof. In one embodiment, the system provides one or more sensors coupled to an abuse detection circuitry for detecting the occurrence of an abuse event. The system may further provide a memory, wherein upon detecting an abuse event, the abuse detection circuitry may store a record of the abuse event into the memory. The system may further provide an interface by which a diagnostic device may access the memory and analyze the abuse event records to determine if an abuse event occurred in the electronic device.

  • Patent number: 7843326
Abstract: The disclosed system provides headgear, i.e., a Firefighter Helmet, with forward illumination that also acts as a personal rescue detection system for quickly finding a downed of lost firefighter. More specifically, the headgear includes a forward illuminating light that has unique characteristics that are easily detected in a smoke filled space by using a handheld photodetector probe that is tuned to the exact characteristics of the light source. The handheld probe has a somewhat narrow directional response to allow a directed search for a downed firefighter or other emergency personnel in a smoke filled noisy environment that hinders normal visual and audible search methods. The handheld photodetector probe produces a unique audio tone that is proportional in volume to the intensity of the exact-characteristics-light-source thus allowing a sweeping motion of the probe to immediately determine the relative direction to a firefighter who is down or requiring assistance.

Abstract: An LED fixture includes multiple LED drivers and multiple LED lamps so that the lifetime of the fixture is a multiple of the lifetime of a conventional fixture that uses only a single LED driver. A distributed controller activates and deactivates the LED drivers so that the different LED lamps are driven sequentially. An optional multi-lamp LED driver concurrently drives multiple LED lamps that have been previously driven by the LED drivers.
