An Inverse Fast Fourier Transform is then applied to the component signals, which are sent to a processor. The processor is programmed to detect irregularities in the respiration and heart rate. If severe irregularities or complete cessation is detected in either signal, a mechanical stimulator is actuated to try to stimulate the subject, and an alarm is sounded to alert a caregiver such as a parent or nurse.

A voltage is applied to each of the electrodes of to the plurality of electrodes to create a desired state for each electrode corresponding to the areas capable of tactile feedback. The dynamic tactile interface can be implemented as part of a viewable display type of device, or as a device without any viewable display.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for sensing radio frequency signals. A radio frequency strength sensing apparatus converts a sensed radio frequency signal to an audible tone. The radio frequency detector is capable of detecting radio frequency signals over a selected frequency range with different signal strengths and capable of outputting a logarithmic voltage that varies with signal amplitude change. The voltage-to-frequency converter is connected to the radio frequency detector and is capable of producing an electrical signal waveform in the audio frequency range to generate the audible tone. The speaker system is connected to the voltage-to-frequency converter circuit, wherein the speaker system outputs the audible tone, with pitch of the tone related to the strength of the radio frequency signal.

The on-off ratio adjusting circuit (108) controls a pulse width of an oscillation signal from the oscillating circuit (102) based on a voltage of power supply and/or an ambient temperature. The oscillating circuit (102) outputs corresponding oscillation signal to the driver circuit (104) based on the oscillation frequency signal received from the sensor (110) and/or the control signal from the on-off ratio adjusting circuit (108).
