Synchronizing Patents (Class 340/4.2)
  • Patent number: 10267912
Abstract: An endpoint among a plurality of endpoints, synchronizes a clock across the plurality of endpoints. The endpoint generates a received ultrasonic signal by transducing ultrasonic sound received at a microphone from a spatial region. The ultrasonic sound includes an identical ultrasonic signal transmitted from the plurality of endpoints and echoes from the spatial region. The identical ultrasonic signal is generated with respect to the synchronized clock. The endpoint computes an error signal based on removing the identical ultrasonic signals and the echoes from the received ultrasonic signal. The endpoint detects motion in the spatial region based on a change in the error signal over time.

Abstract: A networking thermostat is described that includes a main processor and a communications processor. The main processor includes a network manager function, a master messaging function and a slave messaging function while the communications processor includes a wireless radio enabling the thermostat to communicate with other networking thermostats. The networking thermostat is able to operate in a master mode or a slave mode, where the master mode allows the networking thermostat to act as a main gateway between other networking thermostats and a remote server. When in the master mode the networking thermostat can default to a slave if communication with the remote server is lost, thereby allowing one of the other networking thermostats to become a master.

  • Patent number: 8723672
Abstract: A plurality of hazard alarm devices are in spatially diverse locations and coupled together with an input-output bus. An interconnect protocol enables non-originating alarm devices to synchronize their audible alert tone pulses with audible alert tone pulses from an originating alarm device in a local hazard alarm condition. Hence, all audible alert tone pulses start sounding substantially together with allowances for signal contention and arbitration between the spatially diverse alarm devices. The originating alarm device continuously sounds its pattern of audible alert tone pulse groups without interruption, while the non-originating alarm devices periodically pause sounding a group of their audible alert tone pulses. The originating alarm device may be found by listening for the alarm device that is continuously sounding audible alert tone pulse groups without pause.
