Patent number: 6510315Abstract: In one embodiment of the invention, either a CPRU or an RNC in a wireless local loop performs digit analysis to identify whether an emergency 911 call is in progress by setting an internal indicator. When the emergency 911 caller goes on-hook during an emergency call, the CPRU will direct a re-alert of the emergency caller should the internal indicator indicate that the call is an emergency 911 call. In an alternate embodiment, digit analysis is only performed at a CO in a telephone network coupled to the wireless local loop. When the emergency 911 caller goes on-hook during an emergency call, the wireless network places itself into a pending disconnect state, thereby allowing the CO to direct a re-alert of the emergency caller.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1999Date of Patent: January 21, 2003Assignee: Intel CorporationInventor: Jill C. Publication number: 20020080024Abstract: Multiple field units in a CDMA system are synchronized for communication with a base station using shared forward and reverse link channels. In an illustrative embodiment, each field unit is assigned a time slot in a forward link channel to receive messages from the base station. Likewise, each field unit is assigned a time slot on a common reverse link channel for transmitting messages to the base station. Timing alignment and power level control among each of many field units and the base station is achieved by analyzing messages received at the base station in a corresponding time slot as transmitted by each field unit. Thereafter, a message is transmitted from the base station in a corresponding time slot to a particular field unit for adjusting its timing or power level so that future messages transmitted from the field unit are received in the appropriate time slot at the base station at a desired power level.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 1, 2001Publication date: June 27, 2002Applicant: Tantivy Communications, Inc.Inventors: G. Patent number: 4642477Abstract: An alarm actuated emergency light signalling circuit to replace the usual wall mounted light switch. The new switch circuit fits within the electrical wall box and has the external appearance and manual operation of an ordinary light switch. When triggered by an alarm system, the new light signalling circuit overrides the circuit breaking function of the light switch and causes the lighting controlled by the switch to flash intermittently. The flashing of the lighting occurs regardless of the initial state of the light switch, whether on or off. The circuit includes a low voltage portion driven by the alarm and including sensing and timing circuitry. The low voltage circuit does not require or use any electric power when not actuated by the alarm. The alternating current power circuit for the lighting is operable in the conventional on/off fashion unless actuated by the alarm and low voltage circuit. Thus, there is no additional alarm position for the switch.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 1985Date of Patent: February 10, 1987Inventors: Edmund S. Grzanowski, Jr., Philip J. Glengary

Patent number: 4203095Abstract: For monitoring the supervisory current in a communications line between a power source and a protected premises which forms a security protection circuit, monitoring apparatus utilizes sensitive solid state circuitry which appears transparent to the protection circuit. An operational amplifier input circuit protects the circuitry against component damage due to lightning, inherently rejects common mode errors due to noise, transients, and varying power supply voltage, and had an adjustable offset for line length compensation and circuit standardization. Voltage comparator circuitry indicates by digital signals the supervisory current level. After the operator conditions the apparatus for an abnormal current level which has been signalled, a lamp which blinks at a discernable rate is used to serve as a reminder of this state.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 1977Date of Patent: May 13, 1980Assignee: Potter Electric Signal Co.Inventor: Stanley Wilson, Jr.

Patent number: 4162488Abstract: An alarm system is disclosed which utilizes the Bell System DATAPHONE (a registered service mark of AT&T Company) Select-A-Station Service equipment to communicate alarm messages from a plurality of protected premises to a central monitoring station. The system includes a plurality of transponder units, one at each of the protected premises, connected to the central monitoring station through the Bell System equipment. The central monitoring station sequentially polls all the transponders. This is accomplished by sequentially setting up connections from the central monitoring station to the transponder units and sending a START tone burst. In response to receipt of a START tone burst, the connected transponder transmits a tone burst reporting the status of the protected premises. This tone burst contains six tone-pairs in defined time slots, each of the tone-pairs identifying the condition of an associated protected zone, AC power status, and whether the protected premises is in its DAY or NIGHT mode.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 1977Date of Patent: July 24, 1979Assignee: Emergency Products CorporationInventors: Howard M.
