Patent number: 9366716Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide systems and methods for detecting a sustained arc in an electrical system. Over a time period, current and voltage data for a load signal are collected, from which spectral information is extracted. The spectral information has a frequency component and an amplitude component. The load signal is processed to remove a line frequency signature from the spectral information. One or more sub-harmonic frequency bands are extracted from the load signal and analyzed to determine the presence of an arc signature therein. The sub-harmonic frequency bands may be centered on frequencies corresponding to an integer number of half line cycle periods. Analysis of the sub-harmonic frequency bands can include detecting the peak amplitudes of the rectified sub-harmonic frequency bands to obtain an indicator signal and determining if the indicator signal exceeds a threshold that indicates the presence of the sustained arc.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 2013Date of Patent: June 14, 2016Assignee: Pentair Thermal Management LLCInventor: Juergen J. Patent number: 9242600Abstract: A safety apparatus for use as a roadside warning device comprises a base, a light source disposed within the base and adapted to project light away from the base, and an alert system rotatably attached to the base. The alert system includes a plurality of arms shaped to form a visual alert member, wherein at least first and second arms are collapsible upon a third arm. A plurality of lights are disposed on one or more of the first, second, and third arms. In a first orientation, the alert system is disposed at a non-zero angle with respect to the base and the first, second, and third arms of the alert system are formed into the visual alert member and, in a second orientation, the alert system is collapsed and parallel to the base.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 2013Date of Patent: January 26, 2016Inventor: Ahmad Omar Al Shalabi

Patent number: 9239288Abstract: An aircraft light device has a base, a printed circuit board, a reflector and a cover-lens. The reflector is comprised of a number of reflective surfaces connected together to form a spline. Light transducers on the printed circuit board are of two main types, light emitters and light receivers. Light emitters provide light for illumination, while light receivers enable detection of received light. The two transducer types can be used alone or in combination.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2014Date of Patent: January 19, 2016Inventors: Dean Andrew Wilkinson, Nathan Howard Calvin

Patent number: 9227565Abstract: A vehicle interior illumination assembly includes a lighting fixture and a controller. The lighting fixture has a proximity detection layer and an illumination layer, with one of the proximity detection layer and the illumination layer overlaying the other of the proximity detection layer and the illumination layer. The controller is operably connected to the proximity detection layer and the illumination layer. The controller is configured to toggle the illumination layer on and off in response to detecting a first movement gesture at the proximity detection layer. The controller is configured to adjust a first prescribed lighting parameter of the light produced by the illumination layer in response to detecting a second movement gesture at the proximity detection layer.Type: GrantFiled: September 3, 2013Date of Patent: January 5, 2016Assignee: Nissan North America, Inc.Inventors: Bhargav Sura, Norbert Weinert, Quan Cat, Randall Johnson, Nelson Phan

Patent number: 9226356Abstract: A light emitting device can comprise a light emitter for emitting light at a defined light intensity and circuitry connecting a power source to the light emitter. The circuitry can adjust power provided to the light emitter over time to compensate for inefficiencies due to circuit and light emitter degradation. A more consistent light intensity of the emitted light over a life of the light emitting device and an improved life expectancy of the light emitter can be achieved than what would result if the power was not adjusted over time to offset degradation effects.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 2012Date of Patent: December 29, 2015Inventors: Gary K.
