Abstract: An automation component configured for wireless communication within a building automation system includes a wireless communications component, a processor in communication with the wireless communications component, and a memory in communication with the processor. The memory configured to store computer readable instructions which are executable by the processor to process a change-of-value message received via the wireless communications component, generate a change-of-value update in response to the change-of-value message, and communicate the change-of-value update via the wireless communication component. This change-of-value can occur in a polled (pull) fashion, or in a pushed (when it occurs) fashions.

Abstract: A parking enforcement system and method. The system and method may employ mobile technology and, in particular, a mobile device. From the perspective of the mobile device, a parking identifier is received, wherein the parking identifier corresponds with a parking space or corresponds with parking spaces. The mobile device then receives parking session information relating to the parking space or spaces corresponding with the parking identifier. The mobile device is capable of outputting this information in various forms to assist with parking enforcement. The parking session information may be transmitted to the mobile device from a network server in communication with the mobile device over the network.

  • Patent number: 8242931
Abstract: A method, collection device, and automatic meter reading (AMR) system for locating stolen utility meters use a set of identifiers, such as transponder serial numbers, to build a route of utility meters that have been reported as having been stolen. When each mobile collection device's daily routes are prepared, the route of stolen utility meters is added to the other routes for which the mobile collection device is ordinarily tasked with collecting meter read data. As the mobile collection device traverses its daily routes, it collects meter read data for the stolen utility meters along with the meter read data for its other routes. The route of stolen utility meters is unloaded from the mobile collection device along with the other daily routes when the read process is finished. The route of stolen utility meters may contain information that may assist the utility company in locating the stolen utility meters.

  • Patent number: 8243773
Abstract: A wireless spread-spectrum communication system for transmitting data includes a plurality of end point transmitters and at least one receiver. The end point transmitters transmit data via a frequency-hopped spread-spectrum signal where the transmitting signal is sent without the benefit of frequency stabilization. The receiver is responsive to the frequency-hopping spread-spectrum signals and includes a correlator and a signal processor. The correlator samples at least a first portion of a preamble of the signal and correlates the portion of the preamble with a known preamble pattern to determine a probability of correlation. The signal processor applies a Fast Fourier Transform algorithm to the signal in response to the probability of correlation to track a narrowband frequency of the signal based on at least a second portion of the preamble and to decode data encoded within the signal subsequent to the preamble.

  • Publication number: 20120200425
Abstract: A wireless interface system that interfaces with any one of a plurality of transducers of different types, such as pressure sensors, temperature sensors, and current probes. The transducers employ identical connectors with a common connecting scheme. In this manner, any transducer can be connected to a wireless interface which has the same input connection scheme. When the wireless interface is connected to the transducer, a rechargeable battery, which is associated with the wireless interface, is activated. The wireless interface then determines the type of transducer being utilized and provides sufficient circuitry as well as determining the requirements of the connected transducer. In this manner, the wireless interface, besides recognizing and determining the type of transducer, can determine the range of the sensor and can provide specific circuitry to be activated to supply power and to read data from the sensor via common output pins.

Abstract: Method and system for monitoring parameters of a cable system of an electric power transmission system, wherein: a plurality of monitoring nodes is associated with different monitoring points of the cable system; the monitoring nodes are operated alternatively in a sleeping mode and in an active mode; in the active modes the monitoring nodes acquire values of at least one of said parameters and process the acquired values so as to generate corresponding output data; a central unit collects the output data generated by the monitoring nodes; the output data generated by the monitoring nodes are sent from the monitoring nodes, when in active mode, toward the central unit by making them pass from one of the monitoring nodes to another, by starting from the monitoring node that generates the output data until a last of the monitoring nodes, which forwards the output data to the central unit.
