Abstract: A relay service can relay messages between controllers and electronically controllable accessory devices that may be located remotely from the controllers. Relaying of messages by the relay service can be decoupled from any knowledge of the functionality of the accessory or the content of the messages. Device identification and relaying of messages can be managed using “relay aliases” that are meaningful only to the relay service and the endpoint devices (the controller and accessory). The endpoint devices can implement end-to-end security for messages transported by the relay service.

Abstract: A system of luminaires, which are connected to one another within a mesh network, and which interoperate in accordance with the disclosed method. Each luminaire in the mesh network is capable of originating a notification message whenever one of a predefined set of state changes is detected by the luminaire's controller. Also, a given type of state change might correlate to more than one type of event having occurred. For example, a particular type of state change can be attributed to any of i) a sensing of occupancy in the vicinity of the luminaire, ii) manual actuation of a light switch, iii) a timer going off, and iv) an external command being received. The luminaire's controller is also capable of receiving and processing notification messages originated by other luminaires, and of relaying, to other luminaires in the mesh network, information from received notification messages.

  • Patent number: 10114787
Abstract: Device identification generation in electronic devices to allow external control, such as selection or reprogramming, of device identification for bus communications identification, is disclosed. In this manner, device identifications of electronic devices coupled to a common communications bus in a system can be selected or reprogrammed to ensure they are unique to avoid bus communications collisions. In certain aspects, to select or reprogram a device identification in an electronic device, an external source can be electrically coupled to the electronic device. The external source closes a circuit with a device identification generation circuit in the electronic device. The closed circuit provides a desired electrical characteristic detectable by the device identification generation circuit. The device identification generation circuit is configured to generate a device identification as a function of the detected electrical characteristics of the closed circuit from the external source.

  • Patent number: 9614606
Abstract: While a user equipment (UE) is in a connected mode, the UE may receive only a limited quantity of data. During this phase, a receive diversity configuration may not be enabled, in an effort to conserve power on the UE side. However, in marginal signal conditions and a poor radio environment, downlink performance at the UE side may be enhanced by enabling receive diversity, irrespective of the limited data received by the UE. However, while receive diversity may improve the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) at the UE end in marginal signal conditions, the UE may also incur a penalty on power consumption. Therefore, certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for dynamically controlling the receive diversity of a wireless device to improve the downlink procedure performance, while minimizing power consumption due to the usage of a second receive chain when in connected mode.
