  • Patent number: 11414077
Abstract: A method of guiding driving with low fuel efficiency using traffic light information includes: acquiring traffic light information on a forward traffic light, determining whether the vehicle is capable of passing through the forward traffic light without stopping based on the traffic light information, a current vehicle speed, and available acceleration and deceleration speeds, and when the vehicle is capable of passing through it without stopping, outputting a guidance speed for enabling the vehicle to pass through the forward traffic light without stopping. In particular, the forward traffic light information includes information on a current signal of the traffic light and information on a remaining time until the current signal is changed to another signal.

  • Patent number: 9965951
Abstract: In an approach for adapting traffic signal timing, a computer receives a streaming video for one or more paths of a first intersection. The computer identifies traffic within the received streaming video. The computer calculates traffic flow for the one or more paths of the first intersection based on the identified traffic. The computer determines whether a change in a state of a traffic signal for the first intersection should occur based at least in part on the identified traffic and the determined traffic flow with respect to predefined objectives. Responsive to determining the change in the state of the traffic signal for the first intersection should occur, the computer calculates a change to a traffic signal timing based on the determined change in the state of the traffic signal. The computer initiates an adaptation to the traffic signal timing based on the determined change to the traffic signal timing.

  • Patent number: 9821714
Abstract: A light assembly for a school bus. The light assembly includes a housing having a front side and a rear side, wherein the rear side is mountable to a school bus. The front side of the housing includes a perimeter light, a stop light, and a platform light, wherein the lights can alert vehicles approaching a stopping school bus. The perimeter light is disposed around a perimeter of the housing and can produce an amber color. The stop light includes the word ‘stop’ in a non-colored transparent material and the platform light, disposed between the perimeter light and the stop light, can produce a red color. In one embodiment, the light assembly is operably connected to a control, speedometer, and door assembly of a school bus, allowing the light assembly to automatically activate when the school bus stops and automatically deactivate when the school bus door closes.

  • Patent number: 8830086
Abstract: A method and system for adjusting traffic lights. The method and system can dynamically divide a region according to the road congestion situation and adjust traffic lights in a resulting control region according to the control region, so as to solve the traffic congestion problem. The system for adjusting traffic lights includes: a congestion determining module, a control region determining module and a adjusting module, wherein the control region determining module is configured to determine a control region according to a dispersion demand of a first phase and a dispersal capability of a corresponding phase of an adjacent intersection, and the adjusting module is configured to adjust traffic lights of at least one corresponding phase of an adjacent intersection in the control region so as to relieve the traffic congestion situation at the first phase of the first intersection. Also described is a corresponding method for adjusting traffic lights.

  • Patent number: 7538689
Abstract: Methods and systems use a programmable sign display located in proximity to a traffic light to provide information to motorists upon the motorists directing their attention toward the traffic light. The programmable sign display may receive programming for content to be displayed in various ways, such as through an interface to a telephone network accessible by a cell phone that sends programming information to the sign. The programmable sign may be used to inform motorists of a radio frequency upon which relevant information such as advertising or traffic reports is being broadcast. The programmable sign may be used to provide textual or graphical information, such as an instruction to motorists that relates to avoiding an approaching emergency vehicle. Additionally, management of the sign is provided to coordinate programming and control of the content being displayed.
