Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for detecting user-object interaction in mixed-reality environments. A mixed-reality system detects a controller gesture with an associated controller orientation in the mixed-reality environment. The mixed-reality system then determines an interaction region for the controller gesture and identifies one or more virtual objects within the interaction region. The virtual objects each have an associated orientation affinity. Subsequently, the mixed-reality system determines an orientation similarity score between the controller orientation and the orientation affinity for each virtual object within the interaction region. In response to determining that at least one orientation similarity score exceeds a predetermined threshold, the mixed-reality system executes an interaction between the controller and the virtual object that has the greatest orientation similarity score.

  • Patent number: 10761605
Abstract: An item such as a glove may be formed from knitted fabric. The knitted fabric may form fingers for the glove and may form pockets in the fingers. Sensors such as inertial measurement units may be placed in the pockets to measure movements of a user's fingers in the glove. The sensors may be coupled to control circuitry in the glove using conductive yarn in the knitted fabric. The conductive yarn may form courses in the knitted fabric that run along each finger. Haptic components and other electrical components may be coupled to the control circuitry using the conductive yarn. Electrodes may be formed from metal-coated strands of material in the fabric on the sides of each finger. The wireless or wired communications circuitry coupled to the control circuitry may be used to convey information such as user finger movement information to external equipment.

  • Patent number: 10747426
Abstract: Ergonomic keyboard-less typing may be used to replace traditional typing on a computer keyboard. The user may use an alternative user interface device, such as a smart phone, a tablet, or a wearable device, to make character selections. One of a plurality of user contact types may be received from an input interface, to provide a first indication of the character inputs the user would like to select. A display menu, generated at least in part based on the contact type received, may then present a plurality of gesture types, and one or more characters corresponding to each of the plurality of gesture types. A second indication of one of the plurality of gesture types may be received at the input interface. A selection of one or more characters may then be displayed based on the received first indication and the received second indication.

  • Patent number: 10739864
Abstract: A gesture to speech conversion device may receive indications of user gestures via at least one sensor, the indications identifying movement in three dimensions. A 2-dimensional (2D) plane on which a beginning of the movement and an end of the movement is substantially planar and a third dimension orthogonal to the 2D plane may be determined. A change of the movement in a direction of the third dimension in a course of the movement occurring on the 2D plane is detected. The change of the movement in the third dimension is mapped to an emphasis in the movement. The movement is transformed into speech with emphasis on a part of the speech corresponding to a part of the movement having the detected change.

  • Patent number: 10719868
Abstract: The present invention is a system and application that is engineered to “learn” the current location and/or activity of a user by tracking, monitoring, recording, analyzing, etc. where that user goes, as well as what that user is doing, in order to determine if they may be in an area deemed to be a “high touch surface” location and therefore more susceptible to germs and bacteria. If it is the present invention will then utilize artificial intelligence (AI) and algorithms in order to recommend to said user a variety of cleaning, sanitizing, disinfecting, and other such products and services for their mobile device, person, vehicle, or other such items.

  • Patent number: 10666789
Abstract: A control method for sensors of a mobile terminal is provided, which includes: a to-be-enabled sensor in the sensors of the mobile terminal is determined according to a sensor enabling instruction; when determining that a sensor power-on event of the mobile terminal is triggered, a power-on delay of a target sensor of the mobile terminal is acquired, wherein the target sensor at least includes the to-be-enabled sensor and, when there is one target sensor, the power-on delay of the target sensor is shorter than a maximum power-on delay of the sensors of the mobile terminal; in response to determining that the power-on delay corresponding to the target sensor is reached at a present moment, state resetting is executed on the target sensor; and when the state resetting is completed, the to-be-enabled sensor is enabled to become an enabled sensor, and acquired data of the enabled sensor is reported.

Abstract: Provided is a character input method and apparatus for automatically switching an input mode in a terminal having a touch screen. If a press event occurs in one of key regions displayed in the touch screen, it is determined whether a drag event occurs prior to occurrence of a release event. According to whether the drag event occurs, one of a separate input mode for inputting one of characters of a corresponding character group and a text input mode for inputting a word including one of the characters of the character group is executed. Thus, a user can easily input a character by rapidly selecting a desired input mode.
