    Abstract: A method and system for controlling power dissipation in a base station of a navigation satellite system (NSS) is disclosed. One method utilizes a sensor to monitor one or more components of the base station. Then, based on information from the sensor, a transmission bit rate is increased from a pre-defined bit rate to an increased transmission bit rate for an NSS message transmitted from the base station without reducing transmission power level of the base station. The method also periodically provides a bit rate update signal at the pre-defined bit rate, the bit rate update signal informing a rover utilizing the base station of the increased transmission bit rate for the NSS message transmitted from the base station.

    Abstract: A tracking and mapping system for outdoor use includes a first GPS locator located either at a base station or on a hunting accessory such as an arrow. The system also includes a second GPS locator for identifying a user's location, and an electronic display unit for communicating with a global positioning satellite and displaying a map showing icons representing locations of the first and second GPS locators. The second GPS locator may be embedded in the electronic display unit, which may be a mobile wireless handheld device, a tablet or other portable computer having wireless connectivity. The electronic display unit maps the present location of each of the GPS locators in relation to a direction such as north, south, east or west. Optionally, separate GPS locators may be placed at a base station and in an arrow. A method of using the tracking and mapping system is also described.

A display for displaying distance information from the satellite navigation receiver is positioned in one of the sidewalls of the housing and an eyepiece of the laser rangefinder is positioned in the front wall of the housing. This permits a user to hold the device with one hand, look through the eyepiece to operate the laser rangefinder, and then simply twist his or her hand to view satellite navigation information on the display without releasing or re-gripping the device.

    Abstract: A system and method for locating lost golf balls is described. In one embodiment, a plurality of small RFID chips are applied to or embedded in a ball. When the ball is to be located, a user uses a ball finder to receive RF signals from the RFID chips and locate the ball. The ball finder may have useful additional features such as overlaid maps to help and GIS data to help the user find the ball. In an alternative embodiment, a ball is prepared by applying a highly-reflective paint, such as a metallic paint, or a highly-absorbent paint such as a black iron ball paint, to create a characteristic radar signature for the ball. The ball finder may then be configured to locate the ball using the characteristic radar signature.

A processor uses the detected signal to determine the position of the remote receiver assembly relative to the work machine.
