Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for optimizing the transmission of video configuration data in a system comprising a host computer and a display monitor. The invention comprises a wireless video source adapter connected to the host computer and a wireless video sink adapter connected to the monitor. Upon system startup, the video sink adapter acquires EDID information from the monitor and transmits it to the video source adapter, which does not activate its connection and indicate its presence to the host computer until after receiving the EDID information. The video source adapter then supplies the EDID information to the host computer in response to EDID requests from the computer. In this manner, the video source adapter acts as a virtual proxy for the display monitor from the point of the view of the host computer. The host computer then uses the EDID information to configure its video signal to match the parameters of the display monitor.

Abstract: Graphics display adapters for driving multiple display monitors have become very popular. Graphics display adapters that drive multiple monitors can be used to provide terminal services to multiple independent terminals or be used to provide multiple displays to a single user. Generating video signals for multiple display systems puts a heavy burden on the video memory system since multiple different video signal generators may read from associated frame buffers in a shared video memory system. In one disclosed embodiment, a plurality of video memory read triggers are provided wherein at least two of which are staggered to reduce the load on the video memory system. In response to each read trigger, display data is read from a frame buffer to an associated video signal generation circuit. Each video signal generation circuit then provides a display signal to an associated display screen in a multi-screen environment.

Input data representative of a command to update the scheduling database is received at the mobile electronic communications device. An entry of the scheduling database is updated, via the mobile electronic device, based on the time slot data associated with the available time slot displayed at the display device.

Abstract: A method for synchronization of data over multiple panels is provided. A communications apparatus that synchronizes data across multiple displays is provided. A computer program product, comprising a computer-readable medium that synchronizes video data across multiple displays is provided. At least one processor configured to synchronize data across multiple panels is provided. The video data can be sent between the multiple panels or displays at different rates to facilitate synchronization of the data. Double buffering at each panel can allow data to be written to a first buffer and at substantially the same time data is extracted from a second buffer and written to a display.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided in which a digital image is transmitted to a presentation projector resource over a wireless transmission medium using a reduced amount of transmission bandwidth by transmitting a subset of the digital image data. The subset image data may be a delta subset that represents those areas of the image that have changed since the previous transmission. The subset image data may also be a scalable vector graphics representation of the subset of the digital image. Header data is provided to further describe the subset image data. A projector discovery logic selects a suitable projector resource based on the order or signal strength of the discovery replies. A wireless image transmission session is established with the selected projector resource during which the projector is unavailable to other devices. The subset image data may be compressed and transmission coordinated with the projector resource so that the data is sent only when it is ready to be received.

Abstract: A unique system and method that facilitates extending input/output capabilities for resource deficient mobile devices and interactions between multiple heterogeneous devices is provided. The system and method involve an interactive surface to which the desired mobile devices can be connected. The interactive surface can provide an enhanced display space and customization controls for mobile devices that lack adequate displays and input capabilities. In addition, the interactive surface can be employed to permit communication and interaction between multiple mobile devices that otherwise are unable to interact with each other. When connected to the interactive surface, the mobile devices can share information, view information from their respective devices, and store information to the interactive surface. Furthermore, the interactive surface can resume activity states of mobile devices that were previously communicating upon re-connection to the surface.

Abstract: A medium storing a program for display control. When the program is executed by a computer realized in a mobile terminal, the mobile terminal operates as follows. An area-information storing unit stores information on a first display area of an external display device and a second display area of a built-in display. A screen-data production unit acquires content to be displayed, and produces screen data corresponding to the first display area. An entire-image display unit divides the screen data into partial areas each corresponding to the second display area, adds to the entire screen data area-display data indicating the extent of each partial area and a corresponding identifier, and displays the screen data on the external display device. On receipt of an identifier, a partial-image display unit extracts a portion of the screen data for a partial area corresponding to the identifier, and displays the portion on the built-in display.

  • Patent number: 7917178
Abstract: A wireless communications device includes a receiver that transmits and receives speech signals to and from a remote party via a wireless communications network. The received speech signals include information representative of one or more audible sounds associated with the remote party. The audible sounds may be, for example, words uttered by the remote party, or a predetermined audio message associated with the remote party. A speech processing unit in the user's device converts the received speech signals into corresponding text based on an operating mode of the wireless communications device. The converted text is then displayed to the user on a display. Alternatively, the remote party's wireless communication device or a network entity may convert speech to text for transmission to the user based on an indicated operating mode of the wireless communications device associated with the user.
