Image Based (addressing) Patents (Class 345/667)
  • Patent number: 6369787
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for interpolating a digital image in response to a requested degree of sharpness. An adjusting signal representing the requested degree of sharpness will then be generated. The interpolated pixel data are computed based on a two-order interpolation function for two sampling input pixels with an adjustable weight coefficient representing the selected degree of sharpness. The apparatus of the present invention mainly includes: a control interface, a control unit, a vertical interpolation computation module, and a horizontal interpolation module. The vertical interpolation computation module and the horizontal interpolation module are implemented according to an interpolation function derived by the present invention. The control unit comprises a lookup table built according to a scaling function of the present invention.

Abstract: An image display system includes a host side for executing an application and transmitting image data having a P dot width in a block unit with the number of m dots as the width of the block. A panel side is connected through a digital I/F line to the host side, which converts the image data having a P dot width by using magnification to produce data having an R dot width and then displays the image data. The panel side executes scaling by using a block having an integral value obtained by a R×m/P set as a dot width and a block having a dot width of an added integral value obtained by adding 1 to the integral value, and converts by magnification the image data received from the host side in block unit based on the executed scaling and displays the image data on a panel.

Abstract: An image display apparatus capable of adjusting a display picture by an input unit through a computer body is disclosed. When the user inputs a control instruction for adjusting the display picture of the display unit by the input unit connected to the computer body, a control signal addition circuit prepares a control signal Sc corresponding to the control instruction and adds the control signal to a video signal R, G or B or a synchronizing signal Hs or Vs produced by a display control circuit during a vertical retrace period. A control signal separation circuit separates the added control signal Sc from the video signal R, G or B or the synchronizing signal Hs or Vs produced by the control signal addition circuit. A display control circuit produces adjustment signals Sa and Sb on the basis of the control signal from the control signal separation circuit to adjust a video circuit and a deflection circuit.

  • Patent number: 6348929
Abstract: A method for scaling of an image that includes providing an N-tap filter to be applied upon an image region and applying the N-tap filter variously to the image region and obtaining therefrom at least one scaled image pixel, such that N is equal to the scaling factor plus one. For instance, a 4:1 scaling procedure is achieved using a five-tap filter. By carefully selecting the coefficient of the five-tap filter, 2:1 scaling with a three-tap filter may be achieved using the same hardware and adding control signals and selectors. The scaling methodology and apparatus work directly in the CFA domain and provide efficient single pass dual-moded or multi-moded scaling capability.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for creating a background or foreground image at different resolutions with a scalable graphic thereon is described. In one embodiment, the method comprises selecting a version of an image for display with a scalable graphic. The version of the image is at one of a plurality of resolutions. The method also includes generating the version of the image from a first image bitstream from which versions of the image at two or more of the plurality of resolutions could be generated. One of the versions is generated using a first portion of the first image bitstream and a second of the versions is generated using the first portion of the first image bitstream and a second portion of the first image bitstream.

  • Publication number: 20020008711
Abstract: A method of displaying a zoomed version of stored image on a display, where the stored image is defined by a set of data entries mapped to respective pixels of the display. The stored image is first scaled relative to the display in accordance with the desired zooming ratio. The scaled image is then located at an initial position relative to the display and the extent to which each display pixel is overlapped by features of the scaled image is determined. A colour tone is assigned to each display pixel in accordance with the extent of the overlap. The scaled image is then shifted relative to said initial position one or more times and, for the or each shift, the overlap of each display pixel is recalculated and a new colour tone assigned. The sets of assigned colour tones are then displayed cyclically on the display to produce a displayed image.

Abstract: An image scaling circuit for increasing or decreasing the size of a sampled image to match a fixed resolution display. The circuit includes means for resizing the image in the horizontal and vertical dimension using independent sample rate converters. The sample rate converters increase or decrease the image size by a factor of Lx/Mx in the horizontal dimension and Ly/My in the vertical dimension where Lx and Ly are integers and Mx and My are decimal numbers of arbitrary precision to provide fine scaling control. In addition, image warping is conveniently implemented by varying the down sample ratios Mx and My on a pixel by pixel and/or line by line basis.

Abstract: Disclosed are method and apparatus for the manipulation of thumbnail images as used in image-based browsing file management systems. Disclosed are arrangements whereby zooming in and out of thumbnail images can be performed without a continued need to decompress a true image thus providing for faster operation. Pixel interpolation and/or replication are used to generate intermediate images that are display to deliver to the user a perception of a transitory zoom yet are of sufficient detail to maintain user orientation. Aspect ratio zooming of thumbnail containment areas is also disclosed which facilitates ease of browsing. The compression of thumbnail type images using a discrete wavelet transform facilitates the fast zoom of thumbnails and their associated containment areas.

Abstract: In a display apparatus used for a sewing machine, a liquid crystal display, LCD, shows a pattern edit screen in which a pattern is edited. The pattern edit screen has a standard display area for displaying the pattern for editing. The standard display area has a vertical long rectangular shape and is smaller than a half of the screen. When the image key is pressed on the pattern edit screen, the LCD is switched from the standard display area to a magnification display area, and the pattern is magnified and displayed thereon. The magnification display area is substantially as large as the whole of the display area of the LCD. Thus, the pattern can be displayed in greater detail. Furthermore, shading can be added to the pattern displayed. Therefore, each piece of thread can be presented, which makes the image of the formed pattern more realistic.

Abstract: A capture device 3 first captures the whole of a document 2 and thereby obtains a total image of the document 2. A structure analysis section 24 conducts image structure analysis to the total image, and thereby extracts structural elements (text, figure, picture, etc.) of the document 2 and obtains position information of the structural elements. For each of one or more selected structural elements, a sub-image acquisition process is conducted, in which a control information generation section 25 determines one or more partial areas and a resolution to be used for capturing the selected structural element and an image acquisition control section 23 acquires sub-images of the partial areas of the structural element by use of the capture device 3 with the determined resolution. An image connection section 26 connects the sub-images together and thereby obtains a high resolution image (synthesis target image) of the structural element.

Abstract: In a method and arrangement for controlling a monitor, a video signal is transmitted from a computer to the monitor and is sampled to digitize it and obtain a corresponding signal. Control of the monitor is achieved according to the corresponding signal. A computer program is executed to select a function for controlling the monitor, and a control signal is output through a video card of the computer. Then, color signals transmitted from the computer are sampled to analyze a control function and carry it out. Accordingly, the monitor can be controlled using software, even in a system which does not use a separate cable or does not employ a USB device. The number of control keys set on the monitor can be reduced, and a user is permitted to control various functions. The product cost of the monitor is decreased, and design of the front of the monitor is simplified.
