Interconnected Drive Patents (Class 346/113)
  • Patent number: 11097633
Abstract: Techniques are described for implementing automated control systems to control operations of target physical systems including batteries, such as based at least in part on models of the batteries' dynamic behaviors that are generated by gathering and analyzing information about the batteries' operations under varying conditions. The techniques may include, for each of multiple charge levels of a battery and for each of multiple resistive loads, injecting multi-frequency microvolt pulses into the battery, and using sensors to collect time changes of the responses to these pulses. Information about the inputs and the responses is then analyzed and used to generate an incremental parametric state model representing the internal dynamics of the battery, which is further used to control additional ongoing battery operations (e.g., to control whether and how much power is supplied to and/or extracted from the battery in a current or future time period).

  • Patent number: 7052105
Abstract: A battery residual capacity detection method capable of accurately detecting a battery residual capacity while minimizing reduction of throughput of a printing apparatus. In a printing apparatus, to which the method is applied, operable with at least a battery power source, during printing on a printing medium by reciprocate-scanning a printhead mounted on the printing apparatus, a battery voltage is detected, thereby a battery residual capacity is detected. It is determined whether or not the detected battery residual capacity is equal to or less than a predetermined threshold value. In accordance with the result of determination, driving of a carriage motor to reciprocate-scan the printhead and that of a conveyance motor to convey the printing medium are controlled so as to provide a time zone where loads on the carriage motor and the conveyance motor do not overlap, and the battery residual capacity is detected in the time zone where the loads do not overlap.

  • Patent number: 6307577
Abstract: A single actuator moves the chart and the marking implement in a chart recorder. A first drive means is used for advancing the chart to be recorded upon, a second drive means is used to move the marking implement, and an electromechanical actuator, responsive to an input signal, coupled to both the first and second drive means, exhibits a first direction of movement causing the marking implement to move and the chart to advance, and a second direction of movement causing only the marking implement to move. The electromechanical actuator preferably takes the form of a bidirectional stepper motor, though other types of motors and actuators such as solenoids may alternatively be utilized. Although useful with other types of chart recorders such as strip-chart recorders, the invention is particularly well suited to circular charts, since the shaft of the motor may be coupled to the chart movement mechanism by way of a rotatable disk.

  • Patent number: 5824677
Abstract: Disclosed are compounds having a straight or branched aliphatic hydrocarbon structure of formula I: ##STR1## In formula I, n is an integer from one to four and m is an integer from four to twenty. Independently, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are hydrogen, a straight or branched chain alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl of up to twenty carbon atoms in length or --(CH.sub.2).sub.w R.sub.5. If R.sub.1 or R.sub.2 is --(CH.sub.2).sub.w R.sub.5, w may be an integer from one to twenty and R.sub.5 may be an hydroxyl, halo, C.sub.1-8 alkoxyl group or a substituted or unsubstituted carbocycle or heterocycle. Alternatively, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 may jointly form a substituted or unsubstituted, saturated or unsaturated heterocycle having from four to eight carbon atoms, N being a hetero atom of the resulting heterocyle. R.sub.3 may be either hydrogen or C.sub.13. In the compounds, a total sum of carbon atoms comprising R.sub.1 or R.sub.2, (CH.sub.2).sub.n and (CH.sub.2).sub.m does not exceed forty. R.sub.

  • Patent number: 4228439
Abstract: An audio-frequency generator applies signals to a unit under test. The output of the tested unit is applied selectively through either an amplifier having a linear or a logarithmic characteristic to a push-pull output stage driving a rotary coil measuring instrument. The latter drives a recording stylus. An electronically controlled paper drive is coupled to the wiper arm of a potentiometer. The voltage picked up by the wiper arm is applied to the audio-frequency generator to control the frequency thereof.

  • Patent number: 4215351
Abstract: In a potentiometric chart recorder, the speed of the chart motor 22 is, in one mode of operation (AUTO) selected by a switch 32, varied between two values in dependence upon the rate of change or slope of the input signal at 10 as detected in a detector 30. The slow speed is obtained by intermittent operation at the fast speed, and during the non-operative periods power-consuming circuitry e.g. 16, 18, 26 is switched off by a switch 40.

  • Patent number: 4150385
Abstract: A point recorder has a clock that periodically generates an electrical impulse that is operative through a speaker-type electromagnet to displace a printing element from a holding position wherein an indicator moveable in an indicating direction is spaced from a recording strip to an imprinting position wherein the indicator is pressed against the recording strip. A pawl carried on the printing element is engageable in teeth on a drive roll over which the recording strip is spanned so that each time the printing element moves between its two positions the recording strip is incrementally advanced. The printing element has a bar which presses a needle constituting the indicator against the paper strip where it is spanned over the drive roller so as to record as a point or dot the position of the indicator therealong.

  • Patent number: 4040064
Abstract: A signal actuated recorder device has a recording drum connected to be actuated only when sensing a signal. The recorder is connected to measure the torque employed to make up joints of tubular goods into a string, for example, and can also be used in other applications, such as the testing of joints of pipe.In making up a string of production tubing, a hydraulic strain gauge assembly is connected to the tubing tongs to measure the magnitude of torque imparted into the tubular goods. The pressure signal from the piston of the gauge actuates a motor of the recorder which advances the drum one increment. At the same time, the pressure signal is utilized to move a scribe in proportion to the magnitude of the signal.

  • Patent number: 4032926
Abstract: A data recording instrument having a recording sheet supply roll and a recording sheet take-up roll used for continuously recording a sensor. The instrument utilizes an axially movable rod activated by pulsing means. Movement of the rod advances the take-up roll through lever means connected to the axially movable rod. The lever means adjusts the degree of turning of the take-up roll in proportion to the amount of recording sheet accumulated on the take-up roll. The axial movement of the rod also activates marking means for charting the resultant output of at least one continuous sensor.
