Patent number: 11747434Abstract: Detection of a radar target from a received radar signal includes computing a vector of filter weights dependent upon a steering vector and determining a threshold value dependent upon a designated probability of false alarm. The vector of filter weights is applied to samples of the received radar signal at a test cell, corresponding to a test range, to provide a filtered test signal and a test power of the filtered test signal is computed. The weights are also applied to samples of the received radar signal at a number of reference cells, to produce filtered reference signals. A reference power is computed from the filtered reference signals and the radar target is detected at the test range when a ratio of the test power to the reference power exceeds the threshold value.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 2021Date of Patent: September 5, 2023Assignee: United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the Air ForceInventor: Ramachandran S. Patent number: 6930696Abstract: This invention allows images to be printed up to the edges of printing paper while preventing ink droplets from depositing on the platen. Ink droplets Ip are ejected from a print head 28 and printing is started when printing paper P is fed in the sub-scanning direction by upstream paper feed rollers 25a and 25b, and the front edge Pf reaches a position above a downstream slot 26r. Since printing is started when the front edge Pf of printing paper P has reached a position behind nozzle No. 1, images can be printed without forming blank spaces up to the front edge Pf of the printing paper P by causing the nozzles to eject ink droplets Ip irrespective of whether the nozzles are above the printing paper. When images are formed in the vicinity of the front edge Pf of printing paper P, the paper is repeatedly fed in small increments in the sub-scanning direction, and printing is carried out.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 2001Date of Patent: August 16, 2005Assignee: Seiko Epson CorporationInventor: Koichi Otsuki

Patent number: 6317145Abstract: A method and a device for controlling the motion of a carriage in an ink jet apparatus. First, the printer receives a signal representing a command to replace the cartridge mounted on the carriage. Then, a paper detection device determines whether paper is present in the printing area of the printer. If paper is detected in the printing area, then the carriage is moved outside of the printing area. When no paper is detected by the paper detection sensor, the carriage is moved to the center of the printing area. Then, a user replaces the old ink cartridge with a new ink cartridge and sends a command to the printer indicating that the replacement process is completed. Then the carriage is returned to the position it occupied prior to the printer receiving the replace cartridge command.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 1998Date of Patent: November 13, 2001Assignee: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventor: Ho-Suck Myung

Patent number: 5706013Abstract: Apparatus and method for improving detection of targets in a radar system that employs adaptive filtering. A nonhomogeneity detector eliminates nonhomogeneous signals from the population of signals received. An adaptive filter weight controller estimates covariance matrices from only homogenous signals. Thus the apparatus and method improves the probability of detecting the presence or absence of a target at the same time that it decreases the probability of a false alarm by improving the performance of an adaptive filter. Though developed for airborne radar, the apparatus and method may be applied to the processing of any image.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 1996Date of Patent: January 6, 1998Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the Air ForceInventors: William L. Patent number: 5376950Abstract: A metering belt feeder for gravimetrically measuring a flow of material with the aid of an endless belt which includes a loading zone (10), a weighing zone (10) and a belt drive which is located between these two zones. The belt is caused to move in a plane above both the loading zone and the weighing zone. The belt drive means is constructed so as to draw the belt from the loading zone in the absence of belt-slipping and to project the belt over the weighing zone, and also so as to guide the belt against sideways movement.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 1991Date of Patent: December 27, 1994Assignee: S.E.G. Patent number: 4900830Abstract: The invention thus provides a process for obtaining the preferential replacement by isotopes, of at least one of the hydrogen atoms selected from the group consisting of those attached to the .alpha.- or .alpha.'-carbon atoms in a compound containing the structural moiety (I) ##STR1## which comprises the steps of oxidizing the compound to the corresponding sulfoxide or sulfone which contains the corresponding structural moiety (II) ##STR2## wherein in the sulfoxide n is 1 and in the sulfone n is 2, effecting the isotopic replacement by a known method of said at least one hydrogen atom, and reducing the resultant isotope-labelled sulfoxide or sulfone to the correspondingly labelled compound containing the structural moiety (I).Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1987Date of Patent: February 13, 1990Assignee: Israel Institute for Biological ResearchInventors: Abraham Fisher, Ishai Karton
