Under Discrete Element Control Patents (Class 346/63)
  • Patent number: 7033058
Abstract: A flat display displays images on both sides is disclosed. The flat display includes a liquid crystal molecule layer disposed between two substrates, and a driving array having a plurality of switch devices disposed on one of the substrates. Images are asynchronously displayed on both sides of the flat display by controlling a rotation state of the liquid crystal molecule layer by the driving array in cooperation with a light source provided by a light source module. The light source module includes two light-guiding plates. One of the light-guiding plates is disposed on the substrate having the driving array, and the other light-guiding plate is disposed on the other substrate having a color filter.

  • Patent number: 6441838
Abstract: A thermal ink jet printhead that includes a thin film substrate including a plurality of thin film layers, a plurality of ink firing heater resistors defined in the plurality of thin film layers, a patterned tantalum layer disposed on said plurality of thin film layers, a barrier adhesion layer disposed on the patterned tantalum layer, an ink barrier layer disposed over the barrier adhesion layer, and respective ink chambers formed in the ink barrier layer over respective thin film resistors, each chamber formed by a chamber opening in barrier layer, the barrier adhesion layer more particularly comprises a tantalum nitride layer or a deposited tantalum, carbon, fluorine, and oxygen containing layer that is formed pursuant to exposure of the patterned tantalum layer to a plasma that includes a fluorinated hydrocarbon such as carbon tetrafluoride (CF4), fluoroform (CHF3), hexafluoroethane (C2F6), difluoromethane (CH2F2), pentafluoroethane (C2HF5), tetrafluoroethane (C2H2F4), or octafluorobutene (C4F8).

  • Patent number: 3986011
Abstract: A gas chromatograph system includes a central processor (CPU) and a printer-plotter. The printer-plotter prints characters and plots data using a single 1 by 7 array of thermal resistors to perform both the printing and plotting operations in real time. The system provides continuous and uniform traces despite changes in the plotting rate.Data from the chromatograph is temporarily stored by the CPU, then forwarded upon programmed command through a print-plot controller to the printer-plotter. Data is plotted as it is received from the CPU. As peaks in the data are detected, plotting is suspended temporarily without loss of data, and characters are printed adjacent to the peaks, thus annotating the peaks with digital data.
