Patent number: 9227447Abstract: In a case where suction means for taking in outside air into an inkjet printer is provided, a heated recording medium is abruptly cooled by a flow of air, thereby causing cooling unevenness, which is a factor of degradation of image quality. Further, it is difficult to efficiently cool an inside of a carriage. In view of the above, provided are a structure for allowing the outside air, which is taken into a device of the inkjet printer, to be directly sucked into the carriage, and a structure for preventing the outside air from passing through the carriage. Thus, the temperature inside the carriage can be effectively decreased. Further, mechanisms for exhausting the gas are provided on both sides of a housing, specifically, one mechanism is provided on a side surface of the housing and another mechanism is provided on a rear surface thereof. Thus, unevenness of exhausted gas can be suppressed at the right and left of the housing.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 2013Date of Patent: January 5, 2016Assignee: Oki Data Infotech CorporationInventor: Takanori Yoshizawa

Patent number: 8827419Abstract: An embodiment of the invention has been made to prevent an ink discharge failure or ink mixing caused by preliminary discharge executed with the ink discharge surface of a printhead capped. In the embodiment, to an inkjet printhead in which nozzle arrays are aligned in a direction different from that in which a plurality of nozzles are aligned the following preliminary discharge processing is executed. A cap including a suction port and an air communication port caps the ink discharge surface. After that, a suction recovery unit is driven, thereby performing preliminary discharge for nozzles, among the nozzles of the nozzle arrays, with a long distance to a straight line connecting the suction port with the air communication port before preliminary discharge for nozzles with a short distance to the straight line.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 2013Date of Patent: September 9, 2014Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Yoshinori Nakagawa, Yuji Konno, Tomoki Yamamuro

Patent number: 8827418Abstract: An ink jet printing apparatus includes a print head having an ejection port surface with ejection ports formed therein from which ink is ejected, a cap covering the ejection port surface of the print head, and a suction unit for allowing a pump to generate negative pressure in the cap to suck ink from the print head. The suction unit has a valve provided in a communication tube joining the pump and the cap together. The suction unit sucks ink under a relatively low negative pressure and then switches the valve to suck the ink under a relatively high negative pressure.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2007Date of Patent: September 9, 2014Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Yuji Hamasaki, Susumu Hirosawa
