  • Patent number: 11955174
Abstract: A switching system includes a content-addressable memory (CAM) and several processing nodes. The CAM can be selectively connected to any one or more of the processing nodes during operation of the switching system, without having to power down or otherwise reboot the switching system. The CAM is selectively connected to a processing node in that electrical paths between the CAM and the processing nodes can be established, torn down, and re-established during operation of the switching system. The switching system can include a connection matrix to selectively establish electrical paths between the CAM and the processing nodes.

  • Patent number: 11775238
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes circuitry. The circuitry extracts a colorimetric area from an image formation area based on designation according to an operation by a user, the image formation area in which an image as a print target is to be formed. The circuitry calculates a color difference between a first page and a second page subsequent to the first page based on a colorimetric value in the extracted colorimetric area and to determine whether to continue printing according to the calculated color difference.

  • Patent number: 11776093
Abstract: Systems and methods are configured to generate a frequency map representing a density of objects found in regions of a sample that may be used in setting parameters for imaging the regions. Various embodiments involve binarizing the pixels for a raw image of the sample to transform the image into binary data. Run-length encoded components are identified from the data for dimensions of the raw image. Each component is a length of a sequence of adjacent pixels found in a dimension with the same value in the binary data. A projection of the image is then generated from projection values for the dimensions. Each projection value provides a measure of the density of objects present in a dimension with respect to the components identified for the dimension. This projection is used to identify a level of density for each region of the sample from which the frequency map is generated.

  • Patent number: 6559874
Abstract: A driving means 6 is placed below a photoconductor drum 2. The driving means 6 includes first to fourth developing rollers 13A-13D and toner storage chambers 11A-11D. The developing means 6 can be shifted by a developing-device moving motor 9 to bring one of the developing rollers 13A-13D which corresponds to one of liquid toners 12A-12D to be developed in close to the photoconductor drum 2, followed by developing a latent image formed by an exposure. At this time, the distance between one of the developing rollers 13A-13D and the photoconductor drum 2 can be appropriately adjusted. In addition, before the development, meniscus of the liquid toner is quickly formed between the developing rollers 13A-13D and the photoconductor drum 2 by rotating the development rollers 13A-13 at the rotation speed higher than the rotation speed thereof at the development.

  • Patent number: 6347852
Abstract: A method and system for simplifying required printer commands and facilitating print speed of both laser and inkjet printers is disclosed. When an operating system outputs a print page, a printer driving unit firstly estimates the time respectively consumed by applying the raster bitmap and high-level printer language approaches. Estimation of the printer driving unit is then routed into a print page processing unit for further processing. The print page is manipulated by using the raster bitmap approach in the print page processing unit when the time consumption of the print page estimated by using the raster bitmap approach is less than the other one. Otherwise, the print page is divided into a plurality of print bands for further processing. Complexity of the printer commands required for each print band is then estimated to judge whether the complexity is higher than a predetermined band threshold.

  • Patent number: 6121986
Abstract: An electrostatographic recording apparatus and method includes a primary charger establishing a uniform primary electrostatic voltage level on an image recording member. A recorder imagewise modulates the electrostatic charge on the image recording member to form a latent electrostatic image. A development station develops the electrostatic image with toner. A controller controls the primary charger by periodically adjusting a signal to the primary charger in response to a signal related to charger efficiency. The charger efficiency is determined as the ratio of the charger's grid voltage to a voltage level established on the recording member. To calculate changes to the grid, voltage control patches are printed on the member and the densities used to determine changes to setpoint values for the charger.

  • Patent number: 6111593
Abstract: A method for achieving multiple exposure levels for IOI (IMAGE-ON-IMAGE) xerography when imaging a second color through a first toner layer previously developed on the photoreceptive member. In the example illustrated the data from the previous image paths (magenta and yellow) is analyzed. If the signal indicates that a magenta or yellow bit is present, the cyan output bit information passes to the ROS unchanged, or at full intensity. If however, the magenta and yellow are not present, a modified pattern providing an appropriate reduced exposure signal is sent to the ROS. The process of laser attenuation is blended with halftoning logic to avoid image degradation due to the attenuation.

  • Patent number: 5926201
Abstract: A driver chip for use in an LED or other multi-element recording printhead includes a plurality of current driver channels. Data for determining recording durations for each of the current driver channels is provided on a data bus. A token bit is shifted through a shift register in association with image data to be latched by registers corresponding to a specific driver channel. The driver chip is operational in different recording resolution modes so that it may be connected to recording arrays of different resolutions. When operational in other than its highest or higher resolution, a by-pass signal is generated causing the token bit to by-pass certain stages of the shift register.

  • Patent number: 5826139
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reproducing high quality images using an electrophotographic printing machine is disclosed.More specifically, the present invention is used to change the location, shape and size of a process control patch. Process control patches may be used to improve the quality of an image prior to printing. The intensity of light reflected from the control patch is measured, and the measurements are used to change parameters such as magnitude of electrostatic charge, and toner concentration, before the latent image developed. Adjusting these parameters at this time will allow the printing apparatus to reproduce images having superior quality than previously available.

  • Patent number: 5442382
Abstract: A continuous-form electrophotographic printer 10 measures velocity information each time a new continuous-form media 12 is loaded into the printer to compensate for differences in media, printer wear, and variations in manufacturing tolerances. The continuous-form electrophotographic printer 10 includes a media motion assembly 53 which moves the continuous-form media 12 at a constant velocity initially past an image transfer station 20 and then past an image fixing station 22. A media motion sensor 49 measures the movement of the media 12 and outputs a signal at equal predetermined segments of the media. An image forming device 60 at the image transfer station 20 places multiple scan lines at a predetermined scan rate on a drum 28. A scan line sensor 78 senses each scan line. A speed control system 52 varies the velocity of the media for sequential segments of media and counts the number of scan lines per media segment.
