  • Patent number: 8970651
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media for adding video to an audio only communication session. During a communication session between a first device and a second device, the first device receives an audio portion of the communication session from a user. The first device then receives, via a wireless connection, a video portion of the communication session from a third device. The first device synchronizes the audio portion of the communication session and the video portion of the communication session to yield a synchronized audio and video portion of the communication session. Next, the first device sends the synchronized audio and video portion of the communication session to the second device.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a method, a system, a terminal, an MSC server, and an SCC application server for transferring a video call between access networks. The method includes: pre-negotiating, in a PS domain and through IMS signaling, a CS video call parameter; and, after a video call of a terminal is transferred from the PS domain to a CS domain, establishing a CS video call according to the pre-negotiated CS video call parameter. By using the technical solutions of the present invention, the CS video call parameter is pre-negotiated before the video call of the terminal is transferred from the PS domain to the CS domain, and after transfer to the CS domain, the CS video call is established by directly using the pre-negotiated CS video call parameter.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide an apparatus and method for modem-assisted video telephony. As one example, a user equipment (UE) utilizes a modem to perform video telephony (VT) communication with a remote device through a wireless network. The UE determines a network metric indicative of congestion in the wireless network based on modem information obtained from the modem, independent of feedback information received from the remote device. The UE dynamically adjusts a data rate of the VT communication by an amount proportional to a quantity based on the network metric.

Abstract: In video conferencing over a radio network, the radio equipment is a major power consumer especially in cellular networks such as LTE. In order to reduce the radio power consumption in video conferencing, it is important to introduce an enough radio inactive time. Several types of data buffering and bundling can be employed within a reasonable range of latency that doesn't significantly disrupt the real-time nature of video conferencing. In addition, the data transmission can be synchronized to the data reception in a controlled manner, which can result in an even longer radio inactive time and thus take advantage of radio power saving modes such as LTE C-DRX.
