    Abstract: A technology is provided by which images can be specified in a moving picture and printed easily. First, a plurality of first still images are displayed on a display unit based on a plurality of images which are to be displayed at mutually differing times in a single moving picture. After receiving from a user a selection of a first still image from among the plurality of first still images, the moving picture is played on the display unit for a first time segment which is shorter than a playback time of the moving picture and includes a time at which the selected first still image is to be displayed. Then, according to an instruction by the user which is given during the playback of the moving picture, a second still image is displayed on the display unit based on an image which is to be displayed in the moving picture. The second still image is printed.

    Abstract: A system for playing a selected one of multiple audio tracks recorded in synchronized fashion with a motion picture on an optical disk. The optical disk has encoded on it a mixing master music and effects (“M&E”) track, or a switching master M&E track. Individual audio tracks are provided for language-specific versions of the same motion picture, but these tracks have data recorded in them only where there is dialog. In this way, for many a motion picture, all tracks but masters will have data recorded for well less than half of the running time of the motion picture. When a mixing master is used, it is mixed with a language-specific track when the latter has dialog; the mixing master contains no dialog. If a switching master is used, it may contain dialog recorded with the M&E; when a language-specific track has dialog recorded in it, it also contains M&E and the track is played to the exclusion of the switching master.

    Abstract: A video acquired by a video acquiring section of a video sender terminal is subjected to coding such as MPEG or the like by a video coding section, and the coded video is transmitted to a video receiver terminal through a communication line. In the video receiver side, the received video is decoded and displayed on a video display section. In the video receiver terminal, when a still picture acquiring instruction is made, time information is acquired from a video decoding section and transmitted to a still picture acquiring section of the video sender terminal. The still picture acquiring section reads a still picture at the same time from a video storing section, performs still picture coding such as JPEG to the still picture, and transmits the coded still picture to the video receiver terminal. In the video receiver terminal, the still picture is decoded and displayed on a still picture display section. As a result, the video receiver terminal can acquire a still picture having high quality.
