Test Signal Generator Patents (Class 348/181)
  • Patent number: 8525883
Abstract: Aspects of the present invention are related to systems, methods and apparatus for automatic quality assessment of a video sequence. According to a first aspect of the present invention, a quality index may be generated by combining a spatial quality index and a temporal quality index. According to a second aspect of the present invention, a spatial quality index may be calculated using a modified exponential moving average model to pool multi-scale structural similarity indices computed from test frame—reference frame pairs. According to a third aspect of the present invention, a temporal quality index may be generated by averaging multi-scale structural similarity indices computed from difference image pairs, wherein one difference image is formed between reference frames and another difference image is formed between a reference frame and a test frame.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are directed to a system for generating video test pattern signals from definitions contained in a text-based definition file. The definition file allows the user to create generic definitions for test signals that can be interpreted to create test signals in a variety of formats, raster sizes, color spaces, sample structures, frame modes, and bit depths. A parametric generator uses one or more engines to then generate the desired test pattern from the definition file.

Abstract: Presented is a system and method for testing a digital video distribution environment. A digital video signal generator transmits a reference video bit stream to a distribution path. A digital video signal analyzer receives a test video bit stream from the distribution path. The digital video signal analyzer generates a diagnostic video bit stream as a function of the reference video bit stream and the test video bit stream.

  • Patent number: 8106949
Abstract: A projection system uses a transformation matrix to transform a projection image p in such a manner so as to compensate for surface irregularities on a projection surface. The transformation matrix makes use of properties of light transport relating a projector to a camera. A display pipeline of user-supplied image modification processing modules are reduced by first representing the processing modules as multiple, individual matrix operations. All the matrix operations are then combined with, i.e., multiplied to, the transformation matrix to create a modified transformation matrix. The created transformation matrix is then used in place of the original transformation matrix to simultaneously achieve both image transformation and any pre and post image processing defined by the image modification processing modules.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus to identify media content using temporal signal characteristics are disclosed. An example method to identify media content includes receiving a reference signal corresponding to known media content and generating a reference signature based on the reference signal. The method further includes generating a plurality of sums based on peaks in the media signal and identifying one or more signal peaks based on the generated sums. The method then generates a second signature based on a plurality of normalized curve features, wherein each normalized curve feature corresponds to a signal peak at the temporal location of the signal peak, and determines whether the media signal corresponds to the reference signal based a comparison of the reference signature and the second signature.

Abstract: A reference set of image features is determined from an electronic data file specifying a reference image in a reference coordinate space. Rendering information describing a physical rendering of the reference image is ascertained. Calibration-enabling data is derived from the reference set of the image features and the ascertained rendering information. The calibration-enabling data is provided to calibrate an imaging system. The calibration-enabling data may be stored. The imaging system may capture an image of the physical rendering of the reference image in relation to a capture coordinate space. An extracted set of image features may be extracted from the captured image. Respective ones of the image features in the reference and extracted sets may be matched. The imaging system may be calibrated based on matched ones of the image features and the rendering information.

Abstract: A panel driving circuit that produces a panel test pattern and a method of testing a panel are provided. The driving circuit includes a pattern generation unit and a selection unit. The pattern generation unit responds to a system clock and produces pattern test data and pattern test signals. The selection unit responds to a test signal and selects and outputs either (a) the pattern test data and the pattern test signals that are outputted from the pattern generation unit, or (b) the pattern test data and pattern test signals that are directly applied from the outside. The driving circuit and the method of the panel test generates the panel test data, the horizontal synchronizing signal, the vertical synchronizing signal, and the data activating signal within the driving circuit using a system clock so that the testing of the panel can be carried out without using a separate test device.
