Storage Of Additional Data Patents (Class 348/231.3)
  • Patent number: 10565249
Abstract: A virtual reality network provides access to a number of virtual reality representations, each virtual reality representation representing a location in a virtual universe and defined by VR data stored on the network. The VR data can be in a simplified data format. A database stores the network address and the location in the universe of each virtual reality representation. A database server provides access to the database. The database server generates a list of locations in response to a location query from a visitor, and provides the network address of the virtual reality representation of a selected location. A visitor connects to the database server with a client host to visit the locations in the virtual universe.

  • Patent number: 10542211
Abstract: A method is used to evaluate a camera-related subsystem in a digital network, e.g., aboard a vehicle or fleet, by receiving, via a camera diagnostic module (CDM), sensor reports from the subsystem and possibly from a door sensor, rain/weather sensor, or other sensor. The CDM includes data tables corresponding to subsystem-specific fault modes. The method includes evaluating performance of the camera-related subsystem by comparing potential fault indicators in the received sensor reports to one of the data tables, and determining a pattern of fault indicators in the reports. The pattern is indicative of a health characteristic of the camera-related subsystem. A control action is executed with respect to the digital network in response to the health characteristic, including recording a diagnostic or prognostic code indicative of the health characteristic. The digital network and vehicle are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10419672
Abstract: In various embodiments a camera with multiple optical chains, e.g., camera modules, is controlled to operate in one of a variety of supported modes of operation. The modes include a non-motion mode, a motion mode, a normal burst mode and/or a reduced data burst mode. Motion mode is well suited for capturing an image including motion, e.g., moving object(s) with some modules being used to capture scene areas using a shorter exposure time than other modules and the captured images then being combined taking into consideration locations of motion. A reduced data burst mode is supported in some embodiments in which camera modules with different focal lengths capture images at different rates. While the camera modules of different focal length operate at different image capture rates in the reduced data burst mode, images are combined to support a desired composite image output rate, e.g., a desired frame rate.

  • Patent number: 9912865

Abstract: An imaging apparatus combines images output from imaging units, and reduces such scenes that an image of a displaced subject is captured. The apparatus includes a driving unit that drives at least one imaging unit serving as a driving target among the imaging units, in predetermined driving modes, and a combining unit that combines pieces of image data acquired by the imaging units. The imaging units each include an imaging sensor in which photoelectric converters for converting light into an electrical signal are arranged in rows and columns. The driving unit divides a region for acquiring the image data into a plurality of regions each corresponding to a unit formed of one or more rows of the imaging sensor. The driving modes include a first driving mode in which the imaging unit serving as the driving target is sequentially switched for each exposure or readout of the unit.

  • Patent number: 9829708
Abstract: Methods and systems for providing a reliable hands-free interface between a user and a computing device are presented herein. The interface system includes a gaze tracking system, display system, and head motion tracking system all attached to a frame that is mountable to the head of a user. Eye movements are tracked to determine when the gaze of a user has settled on a particular image displayed by the display system. After a fixed gaze has been identified, it is determined whether the user is moving his/her head in a confirmatory head gesture. The user selection is verified by determining whether the gaze of the user remains fixed to the selected image while executing the confirmatory gesture. This ensures that the gaze of the user remains focused on the selected image projected by the display, rather than an object in the surrounding environment.

Abstract: A handheld imaging device is described to provide high quality RAW image data to a smartphone, or similar handheld imaging device. The imaging device can have a larger dimension, particularly with regard to the thickness of the device, thus overcoming some of the physical limitations to providing high quality optics and image sensing within the thin form factor of a modern smartphone. As the device is only connected when capturing images the smartphone form factor is not altered. The device does not replicate the high-end image processing functionality of a smartphone, but instead transfers RAW images to the smartphone for high-end image processing & enhancement on the smartphone CPU/GPU. Thus it can be manufactured at lower cost than a dedicated camera with equivalent capabilities by taking advantage of the sophisticated image processing capabilities of today's smartphones.
