  • Patent number: 9172881
Abstract: It is arranged so that a user looking at an optical viewfinder and manipulating an operating member of a camera can ascertain which operating member is being manipulated. An optical image of a subject is displayed in the optical viewfinder. Operating members of the camera, which include a shutter-speed dial, exposure dial and command lever, are provided with respective touch sensors for sensing that these operating members have been touched. If the user touches the shutter-speed dial, an image representing the shutter-speed dial touched by the user appears on the optical image of the subject. Viewing the displayed image allows the user to ascertain that he is manipulating the shutter-speed dial.

Abstract: An image pickup apparatus that is capable of producing displays according to situations and limiting touch operations to be accepted, so that, for example, erroneous operations using a touch panel function can be reduced. The position of a touch panel portion with respect to an image pickup apparatus main body is detected, and it is determined whether or not an EVF is in use. When a display surface of the touch panel portion being at such a position as to face a subject taken by an image pickup unit is detected, and it is determined that the EVF is in use, control is performed to produce displays on the touch panel portion and disable at least a part of the touch panel function.

  • Patent number: 8692922
Abstract: An image pickup apparatus capable of giving a shooter the same rotary operation feeling regardless of the rotating direction, and displaying an erect image to a shooter at all times. A two-axis hinge is provided with a first bearing that supports a display unit rotatably in right and left directions and a second bearing that supports the display unit in rotated states rotatably so as to direct the screen to front and rear sides. A first axial rotation detector detects the rotation of the display unit by the first bearing. A second axial rotation detector detects the rotation of the display unit in the rotated states by the second bearing to direct the screen to the front and rear sides. A control unit switches display orientation of an image displayed on the display unit based on detection results from the first and second axial rotation detectors.

Abstract: A digital still camera includes an image-capturing device, a recording device that records a subject image captured by the image-capturing device into an image recording medium, a first monitor device and a second monitor device. The images repeatedly captured by the image-capturing device are displayed in real time at the first monitor device and, at the same time, a photographic support image having been captured by the image-capturing device is displayed at the second monitor device. A single image or a plurality of images recorded in the image recording medium, for instance, may be displayed at the second monitor device as the photographic support image. Alternatively, an image obtained by partially enlarging the image displayed at the first monitor device may be displayed at the second monitor device.
