  • Patent number: 7570296
Abstract: A photographing interval of a digital camera that generates an intermediate image having a resolution between an original image and a thumbnail image is adjusted. Preset intermediate image generation parameters are referenced, and it is determined whether or not generation of an intermediate image is to be carried out. When it is determined that generation of the intermediate image is to be carried out, the intermediate image is generated in a signal processing unit on the basis of the size of the intermediate image set in the intermediate image generation parameters. When it is determined that generation of the intermediate image is not to be carried out, the intermediate image is not generated. Compressed data of the thumbnail image, the original image, and the intermediate image, as well as a header section and a tag section, are stored in a medium such as a memory card.

Abstract: A camera adjusts the aspect ratio of a viewfinder image. The camera has a body and a capture unit mounted in the body. The capture unit has an imager and storage media operatively connected to the imager. The capture unit selectively captures an electronic image of a scene. A viewfinder of the camera displays a light image of the scene. A cropper is disposed in the body. The cropper is switchable among a plurality of settings. Each setting defines a different rectangular cross-sectioned window in the viewfinder. A cropping control is operatively connected to the capture unit and cropper. The cropping control has a cropping input element that is accessible external to the body. The cropping input element is movable between first and second opposed cropping control positions to change the settings. In an operation for reproducing the moving image, when a still image is prepared to be linked with the moving image, a still image mark M1 is displayed during a period from five seconds before to five seconds after the photographing timing. Upon manipulation during such period, the still image is displayed.

Abstract: An image reproducing apparatus includes a selector which selects output of the MPEG decoder in a reproducing mode. A connection detection unit detects whether a video monitor is connected to an output terminal and a result of the detection is sent to a CPU. When a video monitor is connected, the CPU reads out bit map data of an operation icon having an enlarged size from a ROM and sends the data to an OSD control unit. The OSD control unit determines whether a blue background is displayed on a touch panel. If the operation icon is not enlarged, the OSD control unit masks a background portion with a single color (for example, blue background) and displays an enlarged operation icon over the background portion.

Abstract: In an image pickup apparatus, timer 2 starts a time measuring operation when a shutter button is pressed. When a time T1 is measured by timer 2, the image from CCD 1 is output as a background image to a background image buffer 4. In addition, when a time (T1+T2) is measured by timer 2, the image from CCD 1 is output as a normal image to a region extracting portion 5 and image compressing portion 6. The background image mainly refers to an image only including a background. The normal image mainly refers to an image with an object of interest arranged in front of the background.

Abstract: An image pickup apparatus permits easy setting of an optimum hue of an image to be shot by displaying a hue chart in the image pickup apparatus, thereby enabling the user to visually check each hue set in the process of selecting an optimum hue according to the taste or intention of the user or the place where he or she is located. The user arbitrarily designates a tracing range of white balancing. Then, the tracing range parameters for achromatic color determination are selected on the basis of the designated tracing range. White balancing is carried out on an image signal output from an imaging element using the selected tracing range parameters. Based on the image signal that has been subjected to the white balancing, a color signal and a luminance signal are generated and output, thereby enabling the user to set or check an achromatic color determining range for white balancing.
