Abstract: A system and method for managing the color palette for an object oriented operating system providing for the sharing of a plurality (e.g., 256) of colors for display by an external device. In a first aspect, an 8-bit color lookup table (CLUT) is shared by a plurality of views in a document being displayed on the external device such that consistent looking color is provided across a plurality of graphic devices. The inventive method includes creating a color look up table (CLUT) for the operating system, uniformly dividing the CLUT into a predetermined number of colors, displaying graphic information having a plurality of views, and sharing the predetermined number of colors in the CLUT amongst the plurality of views of the graphic information. The predetermined number of colors includes a plurality of colors each of which have a predetermined consistency when shared between first and second views of the plurality of views.

Abstract: A method for color enhancing an image comprised of a plurality of pixels representing gray-scale values by selecting a region of the image for which color is to be applied. Next, at least two base colors are selected which will divide the color attributes of the region into at least two sub-regions. The particular pixels to which each base color will pertain is designated. Finally, the color information is applied to the region to produce a color image.

Abstract: An image sensing apparatus having a small amount of circuitry and exhibiting little power consumption is characterized in that a required delay line is connected into the circuitry at a point after a gamma-corrector in a digital signal processing system that processes an intensity signal, and another required delay line is connected into the circuitry at a point after a limiter in a corrective-signal generating system, which is for generating a signal that corrects a color signal. As a result, the delay lines are provided in fewer stages and need only have a small bit width. This makes it possible to reduce the amount of circuitry as well as power consumption.

  • Patent number: H1599
Abstract: A synthetic color arrangement for a night vision inclusive surveillance system and its display is disclosed. The system partitions an input scene video signal into spectrally segregated scene components which are provided with separate processing as video signals and then recombined into a composite but now multiple color inclusive output representation of the input scene. The system in effect shifts input spectral components to a different part of the electromagnetic spectrum, the visible range of the spectrum, where operator controllable new spectral wavelength values are assigned to each different input scene spectral wavelength. Use of charge coupled device video camera elements, a video signal mixer apparatus, input wavelengths within both the visible and infrared spectral regions and signal processing according to the NTSC standards are also included. Military and non military uses of the apparatus are contemplated.
