  • Patent number: 9948844
Abstract: A periodic motion observation system specifies, with high accuracy, the locus, speed, and a place in which strain, etc., that occurs in the periodic motion of an observation target. A flash light is emitted every prescribed period from a light source. The periodic motion at a prescribed observation point of an observation target is image-captured by an image-capturing camera. The image pertaining to the periodic motion at the prescribed observation point of the observation target is analyzed by an image analysis device. This image analysis unit extracts, on the basis of the image pertaining to the periodic motion at the prescribed observation point of the observation target, the coordinates of the prescribed observation point at a time when the prescribed observation point of the observation target is irradiated by the light source, and outputs each of the coordinates in tabular form or graphic form.

  • Patent number: 9704250
Abstract: A plurality of depth planes corresponding to a scene within a field of view of a camera of a computing device can be computed based on stereographic techniques, infrared transceivers, ultrasonic transceivers, among other approaches. The depth planes can be utilized to independently meter subject matter of interest (e.g., person, object, region, etc.) corresponding to each depth plane to obtain image statistics for each depth plane. The image statistics can be analyzed to determine optimal settings (e.g., focus, exposure, white balance, etc.) for each depth plane, and a camera can be configured to acquire image data according to the optimal settings for one or more of the depth planes. Further, the image statistics can be leveraged for processing portions of the image data that are not optimized during capture. Thus, a final image can reflect optimizations for multiple subject matter of interest located at various distances from a computing device.

  • Patent number: 8013930
Abstract: An imaging apparatus includes a shutter drive section, an aperture blade drive section, an ND filter drive section, a light intensity detection section, a memory, and a control section. The shutter drive section opens and closes a shutter for a light receiving surface of a solid state image sensor. The aperture blade drive section drives an aperture blade forming an aperture. The ND filter drive section adjusts the position of an ND filter against the aperture. The control section calculates the exposure control voltage representing an exposure amount from the light intensity signal output from the light intensity detection section, and reads out the F value and the shutter speed corresponding to the exposure control voltage from the exposure control table stored in the memory so as to avoid a partial application state of the ND filter, for controlling respective drive sections.

  • Patent number: 7852400
Abstract: An image pickup apparatus which is capable of preventing light diffraction from being caused by a density step or a thickness step of a filter, thereby preventing degradation of resolution during still image shooting, and securing the dynamic range of exposure control during both moving image shooting and still image shooting. In the image pickup apparatus, an image pickup element converts light incident thereon from a lens into an electric signal. A diaphragm mechanism changes the amount of light incident on the image pickup element. An ND filter covers an aperture of the diaphragm mechanism such that the aperture can be opened and closed, thereby adjusting the amount of light incident on the image pickup element after passing through the aperture.
