Abstract: This invention discloses circuits and methods for generating a pixel clock. The circuits utilize an image signal of a first format to generate a pixel clock, which can be utilized to generate an image signal of a second format. The circuits include a reference clock generation circuit, an image processing circuit, and a clock adjustment circuit. The reference clock generation circuit generates a reference clock. The image processing circuit processes the image signal of the first format to generate a control signal. The clock adjustment circuit, which is coupled to the reference clock generation circuit and the image signal processing circuit, generates the pixel clock according to the reference clock and the control signal. The control signal is substantially a periodic signal, whose frequency is proportional to the frequency of a synchronization signal of the image signal of the second format.

Abstract: In a video signal processing device, a host CPU sets a number of parameters for a memory table at its low-load timing such as during power-up. The host CPU then enables the function of an automatic setting controller. Being notified of start of automatic setting, the automatic setting controller reads plural clock setting parameters from the memory table, and performs clock setting in a clock generation section while waiting for stabilization of PLL oscillation. The automatic setting control section then reads plural signal processing parameters from the memory table and sets the parameters in a video signal processing section. Thus, in operation of the video signal processing section and the clock generation section according to the format of the input video signal, it is possible to set a number of setting parameters in these sections while reducing the load of the host CPU, shortening the image output time.

A timing control signal, synchronized with a second known signal whose phase is alternately inverted in every field, is output when the first correlation value is greater than or equal to a predetermined value. A second correlation value is calculated, between the high-definition signal and a second reference signal the same as the second known signal. Abstract: A digital television signal includes data sent as multilevel symbols in successive data segments each including a synchronizing sync character. The detected synchronizing sync character produces a characteristic having two opposite polarity levels separated by a zero reference level, with the levels occurring at successive sampling points of the television signal, and a detection signal that has a peak occurring in time coincidence with the zero reference level. The detection signal controls sampling of the received television signal. The gain of the received signal is controlled by an AGC circuit that also responds to the detection signal.

  • Patent number: 5327236
Abstract: A compatible special effect signal can be produced without using an encoder or a special signal processor. Each of EDTV signals is divided into a main screen signal and a compensation screen signal. Compensation screen modification circuits modify the special position and size of the compensation screen signals such that the compensation screen signals match with the main screen signals in spacial position and size. The modified signals and the main screen signals are multiplexed in a frequency domain. The multiplexed signals are gated in response to a wipe signal and the gated signals are mixed with each other. The mixed signal is separated into the main screen signal and the compensation screen signal in the frequency domain. A compensation screen signal restorer circuit converts the frequency separated compensation screen signal into the original compensation signal which is mixed with the main screen signal to generate the wiped wide screen EDTV signal.
