  • Patent number: 8730389
Abstract: An AV amplifier detects combinations of resolutions and vertical frequencies of input video data, and reads information about combinations of resolutions and vertical frequencies stored in a display device in advance. The AV amplifier sets values, that are a combination of an output resolution and an output vertical frequency in which a value obtained by dividing a vertical frequency of the video data detected by a video detecting section by the output vertical frequency is an integer number and are present in the combinations of the resolutions and the vertical frequencies read by the reading section, as the combination of the output resolution and the output vertical frequency.

Abstract: Teachings herein compose a digital image so that the image is perceptible on a viewing surface, such as a projection surface or a transparent screen. In doing so, the teachings advantageously recognize a digital image as consisting of one or more logical objects, like buttons of a user interface. Often, logical objects may be spatially arranged within the image and/or colored in different possible ways without substantially affecting the meaning conveyed by the image. Exploiting this, teachings herein evaluate light reflected from, or transmitted through, the viewing surface, and compose the digital image from one or more logical objects that have a spatial arrangement or coloration determined in dependence on that evaluation. The teachings might, for example, place a logical object within the image so that it will be displayed on a region of the surface which has high contrast with the object's colors and/or low color variance.

Abstract: The present invention achieves wireless delivery of media streams to portable devices for providing media information related to a show or attraction for the purposes of captioning, language translation, and assistive listening. As a person moves about a venue, the device receives infrared or radio signals from transmitters at venue locations. The device decodes each signal as venue location, event time, or device trigger for presentation on the device. The device memory contains audio, text, graphics and device playback may contain one or many of these stored contents. The stored content is synchronized with the user's location, time of travel, time of day, time of a show, or an event in a show and may be in one or many languages. Presentation of stored content on the device may also be altered by user preference, stored logic constraints, automatic learning of user behavior, or user interaction with other devices.

  • Patent number: 8610827
Abstract: The invention defines a method for leveraging the standard conditional access module interface of a digital TV receiver to deliver IPTV or other TV content without the need of a set top box. An IP-connected interface (“probe”) is used in place of a conditional access module to establish a two-way communication link between the TV and the IPTV headend or other IP content source and to deliver IP content. In an embodiment, the invention covers the specifics of content navigation without requiring any modification of the TV receiver application software or provisioning of IPTV-specific software. Content navigation is achieved by supporting a catalog/grid browsing session on the TV receiver and enabling a flat multiplex navigation, a virtual MPEG multiplex that contains the definition of several available programs but a single video and audio channel is dynamically switched to carry the selected program.
