Abstract: The present invention relates to an image enhancing method, a device, an apparatus and a storage medium. In the image enhancing method, first, the luminance component and the chrominance component of the image are separated and extracted, and then the ambient illumination information in the luminance component is extracted to obtain the illumination component. The luminance image is subjected to luminance correction using the illumination component to obtain the corrected luminance component, and the enhanced image is obtained by combining the chrominance component. Because the whole adjusting process adjusts the luminance of the image based on the ambient luminance information carried by the image itself, the luminance of the image can be adaptively adjusted, a weak light region is strengthened, a hard light region is weakened, the illumination balance is achieved, the enhancement effect is better, and the color distortion of the image is extremely small.

Abstract: A ringing area detector classifies the input image into two regions: a mosquito noise region (i.e. filtering region) and a non-mosquito noise region (i.e. non-filtering region), and uses this classification information to adaptively remove the mosquito noise in a mosquito noise reduction system. The mosquito noise reduction system includes a ringing area detector, a local noise power estimator, a smoothing filter, and a mixer. The ringing area detector includes an edge detector, a near edge detector, a texture detector, and a filtering region decision block. The ringing detection block detects the ringing area where the smoothing filter is to be applied. The local noise power estimator controls the filter strength of the smoothing filter. The smoothing filter smoothes the input image. The mixer mixes the smoothed image and the original image properly based on the region information from the ringing area detection block.

Abstract: A method and system for detecting color-crossing error in decoded video signals is presented. The color-crossing error detection method and system detects a color-crossing pattern in a set of corresponding pixels that share a pixel location. Each pixel of the set of corresponding pixels comes from a different field of a set of fields, which includes a current field having a current pixel. The method and system determines that color-crossing error exists at the current pixel when the color-crossing pattern exists for a user configurable number of sequential fields of the same field type at the pixel location.

The video signal is received at the television set. The video signal includes a luma component and a chroma component. A motion detection operation is performed for each of the chroma component and the luma component in several frequency regions of the received video signal. Each frequency region has a unique, adjustable threshold value for distinguishing false motion from true motion, that is dynamically adjustable based on the incoming video signal, and as a result the motion detection accuracy is improved and image artifacts are minimized in an image that is described by the video signal and is to be displayed on the television set.

Abstract: A system which utilizes the processing capabilities of the graphics processing unit (GPU) in the graphics controller. Each frame of each video stream is decoded. After decoding the compressed image is separated into an image representing the luminance and an image representing the chroma. The chroma image is resampled as appropriate using the GPU to provide chroma values corresponding to each luminance value at the proper locations. The resampled chroma image and the luminance image are properly combined to produce a 4:4:4 image, preferably in the RGB color space, and provided to the frame buffer for final display. Each of these operations is done in real time for each frame of the video.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for detecting motion within a composite video signal. A first chroma difference element compares an in-phase chroma component of the composite video signal to a delayed representation of the in-phase chroma component to produce a first chroma difference value for a given pixel. A second chroma difference element compares a quadrature chroma component of the composite video signal to a delayed representation of the quadrature chroma component to produce a second chroma difference value for the pixel. A parameter mapping component maps the first and second difference values to respective first and second motion parameters that indicates the degree of change in the chroma properties of the pixel. A parameter selector determines a composite motion parameter for the pixel from the first and second motion parameters.
