Publication number: 20090115845Abstract: Certain aspects of a method and system for inverse telecine and scene change detection of progressive video may include determining a cadence, for example, 3:2 or 2:2 pulldown, and phase of received progressive input pictures. A difference between two or more consecutive received progressive input pictures may be determined. The motion compensation of a plurality of output pictures may be controlled based on the determined cadence, phase and difference between two or more consecutive received progressive input pictures. The system may be enabled to determine repeated pictures and scene changes. The motion compensation of output pictures may be stopped during detected scene changes.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 7, 2007Publication date: May 7, 2009Inventors: Frederick Walls, Richard Hayden Wyman

Patent number: 7529406Abstract: The invention provides an image adjusting apparatus for receiving a set of input signals transmitted from a video interface, which is used for receiving a plurality of sets of input signals. The image adjusting apparatus is further used for automatically adjusting the set of input signals to generate a set of output signals. The image adjusting apparatus includes an operation module, a storage module, an offset module and a gain module. The operation module receives a test image to generate a plurality of adjusting signals. The storage module stores the adjusting signals. The offset module transforms, according to the adjusting signals, the set of input signals into a set of temporary signals. Moreover, the gain module transforms, according to the plurality of adjusting signals, the set of temporary signals into the set of output signals.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2005Date of Patent: May 5, 2009Assignee: Quanta Computer Inc.Inventors: Hsu-Chia Kao, Hsu-Pin Kao, Chun-Yen Yang, Hsuan-Ku Chu

Patent number: 7508457Abstract: A digital Y signal compatible with a plurality of pixels in one frame unit is divided into a plurality of signal level regions for each constant signal level range by means of a histogram generator circuit, a rate of pixels included in each signal level to all the pixels is detected, and a histogram is generated. In addition, a correction coefficient is set, and the correction coefficient is stored in a correction coefficient storage circuit. In a computing circuit, a correction value relevant to a signal level in each signal level region is calculated in accordance with the histogram and correction coefficient, and input and output characteristics of the digital Y signal are adjusted on the basis of the calculated correction value. The digital Y signal is gamma-corrected by a Y-?correcting circuit in accordance with the input and output characteristics adjusted by the computing circuit.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2005Date of Patent: March 24, 2009Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Kunio Yamagishi, Takashi Sakaguchi
