Manual Contrast Control (e.g., Linear) Patents (Class 348/686)
  • Patent number: 9838640
Abstract: An apparatus and method for receiving and displaying a television signal and a data signal in a mobile terminal. The mobile terminal includes a display unit with a video data display area and a user data display area. The mobile terminal determines in a standby mode whether it is set to a television mode or communication mode. If the mobile terminal is set to the television mode, it controls a tuner to select a desired television channel. The mobile terminal stores video data of a current frame received over the selected channel and user data corresponding to the selected channel in a memory unit, outputs video data of a previous frame stored in the memory unit to the video data display area of the display unit in a frame period and then outputs the user data stored in the memory unit to the user data display area of the display unit upon completing the output of the video data of the previous frame.

  • Patent number: 8218087
Abstract: A method for adjusting image is applied to an image output device. According to the method, the image output device firstly obtains a current image frame including plural pixels, and analyzes an intensity of an input image signal value of each pixel. The image output device defines each pixel having the input image signal value being smaller than a critical value as a dark pixel, and counts a number of the dark pixels to obtain a ratio of the dark pixels among all the pixels to serve as a dark pixel ratio. The image output device determines an image adjusting curve equation according to the dark pixel ratio, substitutes the input image signal values to the image adjusting curve equation, and obtains output image signal values of the pixels. Finally, the image output device combines all the output image signal values to obtain a final output image frame.

Abstract: A modulating operation interface and a method are applied for a display apparatus. The modulating operation interface comprises a display unit, a selection unit, a clock unit and a processor. A circle broadcast action of a plurality of operation diagrams is displayed by the display unit. One operation diagram from the plurality of operation diagrams broadcasted by the display unit is then selected by the selection unit. An internal menu of lower level is expanded from the selected operation diagram. The circle broadcast action executed by the display unit is controlled by the processor based on a predetermined time and a time data provided by the clock unit. Accordingly, the modulation can be finished completely and speedily while modulating the modulating operation interface.

  • Patent number: 6792141
Abstract: A system and method for processing digital video. The invention allows for manual level and gain adjustment of the video similar to that used in a histogram based automatic level and gain control system using a cumulative distribution function. Level changes are made by an offset to the existing automatic level and gain. Level changes are first made by applying an offset L and the midscale gray intensity bin on the histogram is located. Gain changes are made by changing the relative gain multiplier (G) which acts on the automatic level and gain algorithm causing the gain to change equally about midscale gray (i.e., midscale gray is maintained). In accordance with the invention, as part of the histogram based manual level and gain algorithm, the local gain is clipped to a predetermined maximum in order to prevent an overly noisy picture when too much gain is applied. The inventive method determines how to prevent a shift in the level when increasing the gain (i.e., G>1) even when clipping is applied.

  • Patent number: 5828351
Abstract: A method and apparatus of adjusting the display of the monitor by modifying the parameter values of the adjustable display functions. When the user begins to press the select key on the control panel, the display of the monitor is altered by recursively varying the parameter value of the selected display function from the maximum to the minimum, for indicating the type of the display function to be selected. Such a dynamic display can be obtained by using the microcontroller of the monitor. The monitor will exhibit the display effect of the display function to be selected. Therefore, the user can realize the display effect of these display functions, without having to memorize the simplified figures associated with these display functions. Then the user can adjust the display of the monitor through depressing the adjust key on the control panel.

  • Patent number: 5703661
Abstract: A control apparatus adapted to adjust the image screen display characteristics of a video monitor. The apparatus comprises a microprocessor, an encoder, and a rotary input signal processor. The microprocessor implements operation and adjustment control of the monitor. The encoder provides a rotary knob that a user of the monitor device may rotate in either direction for generating a pair of pulse signals. The rotary input signal processor is coupled between the microprocessor and the encoder for receiving the pair of pulse signals generated by the encoder and reshaping the pulses for input to the microprocessor. The microprocessor receives the reshaped pulse signals to determine the direction of rotation and the range of rotation of the encoder. The determined direction and speed of rotation are utilized as the basis for the adjustment of the image screen of the video monitor device.

The electronic display controller includes a clocking circuit capable of producing varying frequency clocking pulses which can be received by a potentiometer to incrementally adjust the visibility of a displayed object. Activation of one or more buttons on the external housing of the display will cause low frequency clocking signals to be sent to the potentiometer and, after a set period of time, higher frequency clocking signals can be sent provided the button remains active. Initial low frequency and subsequent high frequency clocking signals ensure higher precision initial tuning and, if needed, rapid course tuning of the object visibility.
