Patent number: 10834436Abstract: Particular embodiments provide a system to determine ad segments in a video asset to enable subsequent ad replacement in video programs. The system is included in a multiple service operator (MSO) system that broadcasts video programs via a broadcast schedule. The MSO may not know the location of the ad segments in the video asset. To determine the ad segments, the MSO uses a classifier to classify video program segments and advertisements in the video asset. The classifier may be integrated with an nDVR system. By integrating with the nDVR system, particular embodiments may determine user behavior information, such as trick play commands, from the nDVR system. The classifier may use the user behavior information to detect ad segments in the video asset. In one embodiment, the classifier may fuse outputs from different detectors to detect and validate ad segments in the video program.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 2015Date of Patent: November 10, 2020Assignee: ARRIS Enterprises LLCInventors: Alfonso Martinez Smith, Benedito J. Patent number: 10778941Abstract: Scene changes that are done pleasingly and without user input or control. Based on the number of speakers and changes in speakers, either to a different individual or movement by the same speaker, based on the locations of the speakers and based on the overlap of the current and intended scenes, a decision is made whether to perform a smooth transition or do a cut. It has been determined that the decision on cut versus smooth transition is preferably based on the location of the center of the intended new scene versus the boundaries of the current scene, a cut used if the center is outside the boundaries and a smooth transition if inside. If a smooth transition, an easing function, such as ease in ease out, is performed to change the scene. Patent number: 10091455Abstract: A frame rate conversion apparatus is provided. The frame rate conversion apparatus includes at least one processor configured to determine a noise strength of a block of a current frame among a plurality of frames forming an input video, generate a block of an interpolation frame corresponding to the block of the current frame by estimating a motion vector of a block of the interpolation frame based on the noise strength, and insert the interpolation frame between the current frame and an adjacent frame to adjust a frame rate of the input video.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2016Date of Patent: October 2, 2018Assignee: SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO., LTD.Inventors: Hyung-jun Lim, Dong-yoon Kim, Seong-hoon Choi, Tae-gyoung Ahn

Patent number: 10074157Abstract: A method is implemented at an electronic device for displaying output from an application on a fixed orientation display. The electronic device includes a display module and an application that are distinct from each other. The application sends a request to display output from the application in a second orientation with second dimensions, and receives from the electronic device information indicating that a display associated with the electronic device is a fixed orientation display with a first orientation and first dimensions. The application then determines a standard aspect ratio designated for a type of the first application. The output from the application is thereby scaled based on the standard aspect ratio and the first dimensions of the target display device for display by the display module on the fixed orientation display.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 2017Date of Patent: September 11, 2018Assignee: GOOGLE LLCInventors: Patrick Brady, Dianne Hackborn, Jason Bayer

Patent number: 10074103Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method and a system for identifying mobile device according to information feature of applications of the mobile device. In an analysis device, obtaining a first information feature related to a first application and a second information feature related to a second application, wherein the first information feature is corresponding to one of the mobile devices, the second information feature is corresponding to one of the mobile devices. The analysis device compares the degree of similarity between the first information feature and the second information feature, and a comparison result determines whether the corresponding mobile device with the first information feature and the corresponding mobile device with the second information feature are the same mobile device. Thus, the method and the system can identify whether or not certain applications are already installed to the same mobile device.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2014Date of Patent: September 11, 2018Assignee: Institute For Information IndustryInventors: Hao-Cheng Wang, Jing-Wei Wang, Sheng-Chang Chen, Rong-Sheng Wang, Shih-Chun Chou

Patent number: 10063866Abstract: Systems, methods and computer readable mediums are presented for encoding a stream of input video frames, in which the input video frames are down sampled and the down sampled frames are encoded in a first encoding pass to generate a set of first pass coded frames forming a single first pass I frame and a plurality of first pass P frames formed into first pass sub-groups of pictures (SUB-GOPs). First pass encoding statistics are generated for individual first pass SUB-GOPs, and the statistics are used to encode the input video frames in a second encoding pass to generate a set of second pass coded frames.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 2016Date of Patent: August 28, 2018Assignee: TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INCORPORATEDInventors: Arun Shankar Kudana, Soyeb Nagori

Patent number: 10043242Abstract: An image-processing method includes obtaining an image including a target object, the image being formed by an array of pixels. A current frame portion is extracted from the image, the frame portion being at least a portion of the pixels forming the image, corresponding to a region of interest in the image, the region of interest comprising the target object. A previously calculated current super-resolved frame portion is provided, corresponding to the region of interest in the image. An updated super-resolved frame portion is calculated from the current frame portion and the current super-resolved frame portion.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 2014Date of Patent: August 7, 2018Assignee: MBDA UK LIMITEDInventors: Gary Paul Matson, Andrew John Sherriff, Robert James Middleton
