Abstract: In a system and method of reducing noise, an image sensor with a color filter array (CFA) outputs raw data, and a noise reduction device corrects the raw data according to distances between an original current pixel and neighboring same-color pixels in a process mask, thereby generating a new current pixel so as to output corrected raw data. A color interpolation device couples to receive the corrected raw data to result in full-color data.
Abstract: A circuit for detecting motion pictures includes a first-stage motion picture detecting unit and a second-stage motion picture detecting unit. The first-stage motion picture detecting unit analyzes a current image frame and a previous image frame to calculate a first motion value associated with the current image frame. The second-stage motion picture detecting unit receives the first motion value, compares the first motion value against an adjusted motion value, and outputs and stores a larger one as a second motion value. The adjusted motion value is a value derived by adjusting an adjacent previous second motion value.
Abstract: An interface circuit for a multi-differential embedded-clock channel for communicating data provides efficient utilization of the bandwidth of the channel. The interface circuit includes at least four first signals, at least four second signals, and a multi-differential amplifier. The multi-differential amplifier is coupled to the first and second signals. The multi-differential amplifier is adapted to generate the second signals by amplifying, for all combinations of two of the first signals, differential transitions between the two of the first signals. Each of a plurality of symbols of the data has a corresponding one of the differential transitions, and the differential transitions are serially communicated through the channel.
Abstract: In a de-emphasis circuit designing method for minimizing the number of peripheral components of a video signal processing integrated circuit (IC), a circuit device for determining the level of a reproduced video signal of the de-emphasis circuit is included in the video signal processing IC. The number of components is reduced by designing all circuit elements of the circuit device for determining the level of the reproduced video signal of the de-emphasis circuit so that they are incorporated into the video signal processing IC at the time of design of the video signal processing IC, thereby reducing cost and reducing any deviation in the playback (PB) level due to external component deviation.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for improving the clarity of a picture produced from a video signal. A differentiation circuit is provided that produces a responsive correction signal. Mechanisms for adjusting the shape (width, amplitude, etc.) of the correction signal are disclosed. Disabling the correction signal during blanking intervals and synchronization is also disclosed, among other features.
Abstract: A poly phase filter for converting a sampling frequency of a digital video signal to perform a dot sequential color difference signal conversion operation, the digital video signal including a luminance signal and a color difference signal, the color difference signal including two color difference signal components. The poly phase filter is adapted to generate a plurality of poly phase filter coefficients to be used to process the luminance signal and to process the color difference signal. The poly phase filter is also adapted to process the generated poly phase filter coefficients in units of two to process the color difference signal. Therefore, the present invention has the effect of reducing the hardware size and the associated cost.
Abstract: A video signal processing apparatus includes an equalizer for delaying an input color signal by an adjustable phase retardation. A low pass filter is operative for delaying the input color signal by an adjustable phase retardation. A phase detector is operative for detecting a difference between a phase of an output signal of the equalizer and a phase of an output signal of the low pass filter, and outputting a signal representative of the detected phase difference. The phase retardation provided by the equalizer and the phase retardation provided by the low pass filter are adjusted in response to the output signal of the phase detector to maintain the difference between the phase of the output signal of the equalizer and the phase of the output signal of the low pass filter at a predetermined value, for example, 90 degrees.

Abstract: Pixel data is stored and subsequently read from a random access memory of a video decompression processor in a manner that reduces the number of times different rows of the RAM must be addressed in order to retrieve portions of the pixel data therefrom. Pixel data from a video frame is stored in the RAM as a plurality of pages. Each page substantially fills a different row of the RAM and corresponds to a different section of the video frame. A motion vector is decoded to determine the location of a prediction area within the video frame. In the event that the prediction area encompasses more than one of the pages of the video frame, the pixel data is retrieved one page at a time, minimizing the number of row changes required when addressing the RAM to retrieve the data.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to the linear power amplification, in a single channel, of a composite signal formed by two independent signals. In a single channel formed by correction means followed by a linear preamplifier followed by a saturated amplifier, the filtering and symmetry effect produced, both in the correction means and in the saturated amplifier, is advantageously used to compensate for clipping of the composite signal due to the amplifier. This makes it possible to obtain an undistorted output signal whose amplitude exceeds the level of saturation of the saturated amplifier. The compensation makes it necessary for the transfer characteristic of the correction means to have a given slope between two points beyond which the saturation appears in the saturated amplifier and a slope that is substantially thrice the given slope on each side of these two points.
