Abstract: A DC/DC converter 10 has a high-side transistor QH as a switching element and a low-side transistor QL as a synchronous rectifier element. A first primary electrode D and secondary primary electrode S of the high-side transistor QH are connected to an input voltage VIN and an external terminal T1, respectively. A detection transistor QD is provided in a row with the high-side transistor QH, and the ON voltage of the high-side transistor QH when ON is output as detection voltage VQD from the detection transistor QD. The output detection voltage VQD is added to a feedback voltage VFB1 by an adder CB, and inputted to a comparator CMP1. The ON period of a one-shot pulse PS1 outputted from the comparator CMP1 is regulated so as to be in direct proportion to the sum of the detection voltage VQD and the feedback voltage VFB1.

Abstract: The existing ATSC broadcast standard is modified to improve both the speed at which the periodically transmitted training sequence is found after channel selection by a viewer and the speed at which synchronization is achieved to a continuous wideband overlay signal used for equalization of the decoded signal. The modification involves slight amplitude modulation of the pilot signal in a manner synchronized with the transmission of the training sequences. The modulation of the pilot signal is sufficiently small to be ignored by existing ATSC receivers; that is, it is backwards compatible. Properly equipped receivers can detect, more quickly than receivers not so equipped, transmission of the training sequence by decoding this pilot signal modulation, thereby being capable of providing a decoded image to a viewer more quickly after a channel change than a receiver not so equipped.

Abstract: The following means are integrated in one IF IC: the switching part 60 in the video signal passage for changing over a plurality of sound trap circuits and equalizing circuits 61-64; the switching part 66 in the sound signal passage for changing over a plurality of band-pass filters 67-70 to pass the intercarrier signals of different frequencies; the switching parts (77A, 77B, 78) for adjusting the gains to regulate the difference of sound signal level caused by different frequency modulation degree of each broadcasting system to the constant level and for changing over deemphasis time constant. In addition, the same IF IC contains the FM demodulating circuit 80 of PLL system to demodulate the sound intercarrier and the controller 81 for controlling the changeover of switching parts 60, 66, 78. As a result, the IF IC of very high integration density has been achieved, and the number of components of IF signal processing circuit can be decreased.

  • Patent number: 6081537
Abstract: A signal trap device and method for trapping a desired FM signal out of a frequency multiplexed signal where a plurality of FM signals are included in a frequency multiplexed form. A replay signal reproduced from a video cassette tape is supplied directly to a subtracter while being fed to a fixed delay circuit and a variable delay circuit to be delayed therein by a predetermined delay time. The delayed signal is supplied also to the subtracter, which then subtracts the delayed signal from the reproduced replay signal and outputs the result of such subtraction therefrom. The delay time of the fixed delay circuit is set to correspond to the center frequency of the carrier of the desired FM signal to be trapped. Meanwhile the delay time of the variable delay circuit is so set as to correspond to the signal obtained by demodulating the desired FM signal. Thus, the desired FM signal can be trapped properly without any harmful influence on the other FM signal.

  • Patent number: 5995169
Abstract: In an SIF signal processing circuit, an SIF signal, which is an FM signal having a carrier frequency equal to a frequency difference between a video IF carrier and a sound IF carrier, is first converted to a lower carrier frequency common to SIF signals of any broadcasting system, and is then demodulated. The SIF processing circuit is provided with a PLL circuit for converting an SIF signal down to a lower frequency, so that an output from the PLL circuit is mixed with the SIF signal. The output of the PLL circuit is varied in accordance with a broadcasting system. A plurality of frequencies can be easily obtained from the PLL circuit simply by controlling a frequency division factor of its frequency divider. Thus, resonators can be dispensed with except for one for generating a reference oscillation signal.

A controller discriminates the signal's broadcast mode based on the horizontal sync signal included in the received signal and alters a circuit connection path. Accordingly, a desired broadcast mode can be automatically selected without requiring any particular switch manipulation by a user. Further, a video signal processing path is separated from a sound signal processing path, in order to obtain excellent sound quality, even when receiving a stereo broadcast. Also, it is possible to easily automate the manufacturing process for the apparatus, thereby improving productivity.

A picture intermediate frequency signal output from the tuner 2 is supplied to a pre-amplifier 5 via an adjacent sound trap circuit 4, and picture trap circuits 11 and 12, both of which are connected in series. Trap circuits 11 and 12 have an attenuation point in the upper and lower frequency components, respectively, equivalent to the frequency difference of the adjacent picture signal frequency with respect to the picture intermediate frequency signal, and trap the .+-.6 MHz frequency components of the picture intermediate frequency signal. This allows the trap circuits 11 and 12 to remove unnecessary adjacent picture signals before they reach the pre-amplifier 5.

The downconverter includes a local oscillator for generating oscillations at a frequency controlled in response to the AFT signal. The first IF amplifier includes a first adjacent-channel sound carrier trap, in consequence whereof the first-IF-amplifier response is substantially reduced for the downconverted picture carrier, and an in-channel sound carrier trap. Responsive to the first-IF-amplifier response, a video detector generates a composite video signal in which sound beats are suppressed to relatively low level by the first adjacent-channel sound carrier trap.
