Abstract: A durable unitary lens filter is provided for use with a touch sensitive display device for associated control process equipment. A front cover secures the unitary lens filter to the machine. The lens assembly includes a mounting bezel that supports an intermediate lens securing an integral rear lens filter through which a responsive display shows process information to an operator. The front cover captivates the integral bezel to secure the lens to the associated process device. The lens is molded from a semi-rigid material composition including glass fibers. An internal retainer compressibly captivates the bezel against the front cover. The bezel periphery extends substantially beyond the outermost peripheral edge of the rear lens so that forces thereto are transferred and dissipated to the machine housing.

  • Patent number: 6850287
Abstract: A TV receiver having a metal front cabinet is provided with a discharge path between the front cabinet and a ground portion of the TV receiver. The discharge path includes a series circuit in which a discharge tube is connected in series to a parallel circuit of a first resistor and a high-voltage capacitor and a second resistor that is connected in parallel to the series circuit. The discharge path effectively discharges a voltage occurring at the front cabinet via the second resistor while preventing a sudden flow of current and reducing the influence of static electricity. The series circuit in which the discharge tube is connected in series to the parallel circuit of the first resistor and the high-voltage capacitor has a function of causing high-voltage pulses occurring at the ground portion GND to escape to the front cabinet while converting those into pulses having a low voltage level.

An A-D converter (5) converts the detection signal (Vy) into digital data which in turn is supplied to a CPU (6) together with data from a memory (1). The CPU (6) performs a computation based on a vertical deflection signal (VH), the data from the memory (1) and the detection signal (Vy) to provide parameters (hposi, yvj, vcancel) for determining current values to be supplied to a deflection yoke (13), a convergence correction coil (14) and a beam landing correction coil (15). D-A converters (7-9) convert these parameters into analog signals. Drive circuits (10-12) receives the analog signals provided by conversion to generate current for driving the deflection yoke (13), the convergence correction coil (14) and the beam landing correction coil (15). Image variations under the influence of the vertical component of geomagnetism are automatically corrected.

  • Patent number: 6020939
Abstract: Electromagnetic interference ("EMI") is reduced in a CRT video display system by spreading-out the EMI-producing spectra present in the video pixel data and/or clock signals. A clock dropping circuit coupled between the display generator main oscillator and the timing generator periodically phase-modulates the timing generator clock signal such that it comprises N phases, where N.gtoreq.2. As a result, each horizontal line of video data and the horizontal synchronization signals is phase shifted. This dual-shifting effect eliminates display image distortion that would result if only the video signal were shifted. Video distortion is further minimized by deriving the horizontal and vertical synchronizing signals from a common constant clock. EMI energy associated with each clock harmonic is spread by a frequency amount .DELTA.f proportional to the rate of phase change in the clock signal, the rate of phase change exceeding half the bandwidth f.sub.m of a standard EMI measurement reference window.

  • Patent number: 5495302
Abstract: A television receiver radiation exposure limiting apparatus including a power supply, a proximity sensor, a rf switch, and a housing wherein the apparatus may be located within a small housing emplaced on the television receiver. The preferred proximity sensor comprises a monostatic infrared type sensor and responds to the comparative infrared signature of a human referenced to the ambient background. The sensor generates an electrical output signal which either stimulates or terminates conduction of electric current in an rf relay or solid state switch whenever a human form is within a preset detection range. A system in which the sensor signal terminates current flow is preferred. The rf relay or solid state switch connects the incoming rf signals representing unprocessed video and audio information to the VHF/UHF input of the television receiver only when no human signature is detected by the proximity sensor.

  • Patent number: 5432492
Abstract: A deflection yoke apparatus has a pair of horizontal and a pair of vertical deflection coils, a coil separator therebetween, and a funnel-shaped deflection core which provides a magnetic path for magnetic flux generated by the deflection coils. A pair of auxiliary coils are arranged at diametrically opposed positions outside the deflection core, and may be energized by the horizontal deflection current supplied to the horizontal deflection coils. The magnetic field generated by the auxiliary coils at least partially compensates the external magnetic leakage field which is radiated outside the deflection core by the horizontal deflection coils. The auxiliary coils have rod-shaped magnetic cores which are in magnetic flux coupling relationship with the smaller end of the deflection core. Leakage flux compensation is thereby achieved with minimal affect on the deflection fields and with low power dissipation in the auxiliary coils.

  • Patent number: 5430352
Abstract: A cathode ray tube device capable of providing sufficient shielding effect against leaking alternating electric field while exhibiting high reliability during long use. Alternating electric field generated by a deflection yoke is sufficiently reduced by the shielding effect produced by a conductive film formed on a funnel portion. A gap formed between the conductive film and an insulating sheet provided between the conductive film and the deflection yoke, due to dimensional error, is filled with insulating silicone grease, so as to avoid secular degradation of insulation which otherwise may occur due to accumulation of dust and other matters.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for securing a degaussing coil to a cathode ray tube (CRT) are disclosed wherein one or more restraint cables are used together with one or more cable ties to secure and position a degaussing coil onto a CRT. The method and apparatus of the present invention compensate for variations in the length of the degaussing coil without compromising the positioning of the degaussing coil on the CRT.

  • Patent number: 5398046
Abstract: A faceplate assembly has an electrically conductive grid, which is electrically connected to a suitable ground potential, positioned on or above a display screen of an interactive display terminal (IDT) where the grid has a plurality of optical pipes with metal walls, which provide electromagnetic interference (EMI) protection, and with optical cores, which enhance visibility, that optically pipe information originally displayed on the IDT screen which is piped to a viewing plane developed by the grid. A continuous, serpentine electrical conductor is carried by and positioned over the optical pipe walls by a flexible, transparent overlay sheet that can be flexed to bring a selected portion of the electrical conductor into an electrical switch closed position with an adjacent optical pipe wall(s). This selected grid position is electrically measurable and thereby determined.
