  • Patent number: 10163403
Abstract: A system may produce images including narrow-bandwidth colors. One or more sets of the narrow-bandwidth colors may be selected to be interpreted as substantially a same color by a user. The system may include a light source configured to produce the narrow-bandwidth colors, and/or narrow-passband filters may create narrow-bandwidth colors from light emitted by broad-spectrum light sources or color sources. Spatial and/or time multiplexing may be used to create separate narrow-bandwidth colors interpreted as substantially a same color by the user. For example, the light source and/or the narrow-passband filter elements may be adjustable and may alternate between emission of two or more narrow-bandwidth colors. A viewing device may include filters allowing the user to selectively filter the narrow-bandwidth colors. The user may filter the narrow-bandwidth colors to separate a stereoscopic image pair, to view a user-specific image, to view desired content obfuscated by an obfuscating image, and/or the like.

  • Patent number: 9927616
Abstract: Transparent displays enable many useful applications, including heads-up displays for cars and aircraft as well as displays on eyeglasses and glass windows. Unfortunately, transparent displays made of organic light-emitting diodes are typically expensive and opaque. Heads-up displays often require fixed light sources and have limited viewing angles. And transparent displays that use frequency conversion are typically energy inefficient. Conversely, the present transparent displays operate by scattering visible light from resonant nanoparticles with narrowband scattering cross sections and small absorption cross sections. More specifically, projecting an image onto a transparent screen doped with nanoparticles that selectively scatter light at the image wavelength(s) yields an image on the screen visible to an observer. Because the nanoparticles scatter light at only certain wavelengths, the screen is practically transparent under ambient light.

Abstract: A computer-implemented process for generating stereoscopic images to supplement existing content includes obtaining first image data and obtaining second image data comprising a plurality of sample points. A direction, a color value, and a depth value are associated with each sample point. The direction and depth values are relative to a common origin. A mesh is generated such that the mesh is displaced from the origin in the directions associated with the sample points by distances representative of the corresponding depth values. The second image data is mapped to the mesh such that the color values associated with the sample points are mapped to the mesh at the corresponding directions. First and second stereoscopic images of the mesh are generated from first and second perspectives, respectively. The first image data is caused to be displayed on a first portion of a display.

Calibrated 3D locations of an object in motion in the 2D image field of view of a video data input are computed and used to determine a heading direction of the object as a function of the camera calibration and determined movement between the computed 3D locations. The 2D object image is replaced in the video data input with an object-type 3D polygonal model having a projected bounding box that best matches a bounding box of an image blob, the model oriented in the determined heading direction. Abstract: A method, system and devices for optimizing and/or maximizing the perceived autostereoscopic effect for any chosen combination of photographic or electronic recording materials, recording methods and parameters, and imaging methods and parameters. The method first determines the parameters characterizing the optimum autostereoscopic effect of the combination materials etc. (the front pixel spread and the back pixel spread), then specifies how to apply these parameters to the arrangement of image acquisition devices, or the production of images by computational means, to produce a final image with optimal autostereoscopic properties. Features of the present invention provide for image acquisition either occurring in the real world (via digital or analog means) or within a computer graphic environment (or a blend of both), by way of specific methods necessary for successfully traveling through a variety of different mathematical spaces to arrive at a common space.

Abstract: An image signal process apparatus and a method for controlling thereof are provided. The image signal process apparatus includes a storage unit storing pixel data of an incoming frame image, a scaling filter generating one frame image by scaling the pixel data, and a controller retrieving a part of the pixel data among pixel data of the frame image stored at the storage unit, and transmitting the retrieved pixel data to the scaling filter. As a result, a process of processing a stereoscopic image may be reduced such that deterioration of an image quality may be prevented, and a data processing time may be reduced.
