Abstract: Crosstalk artifacts in a retro-reflective auto-stereoscopic 3D display system are compensated by providing various methods of directing surface reflections of a screen away from a viewing region, i.e. a region from which the screen is viewed. This is achieved by splitting the screen in two, and tilting the left-side and right-side of the screen either towards, or away, from a projection baseline so as to direct mirror reflections away from the viewing region. Alternatively, the screen is not split, but virtical v-shaped grooves are made along the surface of the screen facing the projection line. The angle of the v-shaped groove direct surface reflections away from the viewing region, but the groove are substantially small that the screen appears flat to an observer.

A viewer at the front of the display screen of a stereoscopic image display apparatus is photographed, and an iris image of the viewer is detected. Iris authentication is carried out, and if the same image as the detected iris image is stored, it is understood which user is the viewer. The iris-to-iris distance of the viewer is read. For example, during display frames meant for a first eye, the set of pixels contain a first pattern while during display of frames meant for the second eye, the set of pixels contain a second pattern. A detector interfaced to the screen of the television detects the left/right indication and provides synchronization to shutters of three-dimensional eyewear. Abstract: A three dimensional display and a method thereof are provided. The display includes an image display device and a shutter glasses. The image display device receives a video signal to display a left eye frame or a right eye frame, and outputs a shutter synchronization signal according to whether the left eye frame or the right eye frame is displayed. The shutter glasses is coupled to the image display device to open a left eye glass or a right eye glass according to the shutter synchronization signal. Therefore, the display and the method prevents the left eye and the right eye from receiving an incomplete frame.

Abstract: An application for a three-dimensional television system includes content encoded with left/right frame indicators at a pre-determined location on each frame. The detector is positioned over the set of pixels and determines which pattern is displayed, generating a synchronization signal based upon the patterns. The synchronization signal is then transmitted to three-dimensional eyewear where it is used to control the shutters. In some embodiments, a phased-locked loop is provided within the three-dimensional eyewear to continue operation during periods when the transmission of the synchronization signal is blocked or otherwise interrupted.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided in which eyewear with time shared viewing is capable of supporting delivery of differing content to multiple viewers/users. The content that is delivered to each viewer includes a respective frame sequence that is displayed on a screen. The frame sequences are mixed when they are displayed on the screen. A lens assembly may be used by each viewer to view the frame sequence that is delivered to that viewer. For instance, a first lens assembly may pass a first frame sequence but not frame sequences other than the first frame sequence. A second lens assembly may pass a second frame sequence but not frame sequences other than the second frame sequence, and so on. The content that is delivered to a viewer may depend on a maturity of the viewer (e.g., whether the viewer's maturity is less than a maturity threshold).
