Abstract: In some examples, an apparatus for protocol independent deterministic transport of data in a time-sensitive network comprises a processor, a memory coupled to the processor, the memory configured to store program code executable by the processor, the program code comprising one or more instructions, whereby to cause the apparatus to receive synchronisation data from the network, the synchronisation data comprising a measure for a clock frequency supporting transport of deterministic data traffic over the network, receive multiple input packets, the input packets comprising deterministic data traffic and non-deterministic data traffic, and generate, from the multiple input packets and using the synchronisation data, a set of isochronous output packets comprising respective payloads and headers.

Abstract: Damaging a device that is not compatible with a functional extension is to be avoided. A signal is transmitted to an external device through a transmission channel. A data block containing capability information indicating existence/non-existence of compatibility with an extended function is received from the external device through the transmission channel. A layer field that indicates the connection layer is provided in this data block. A check is made to determine whether all the devices existing in the path are compatible with the extended function based on the value of the layer field provided in the data block, and the contents of the transmission signal are then determined.

Abstract: A data transmission method includes: A transmit end obtains indication information used to indicate that a first compressed packet is lost or fails to be decompressed. The transmit end sends a target original packet or a target compressed packet. The target compressed packet is generated by compressing the target original packet based on a preset compression parameter. The target original packet includes at least one of the following packets: a first original packet corresponding to the first compressed packet, and a second original packet corresponding to a second compressed packet compressed after the first compressed packet. The technical solution provided in this application can improve transmission efficiency that exists when a compressed packet is lost or fails to be decompressed.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes techniques of storing and accessing multimedia files. The techniques comprise obtaining at least two multimedia files; performing format parsing for each of the at least two multimedia files separately to obtain audio encoding data, video encoding data, and container format data of each of the at least two multimedia files; storing the container format data of each of the at least two multimedia files separately, and storing one copy of the audio encoding data and video encoding data; and generating and storing index data comprising information of identifying encoding offset of the container format data, the audio encoding data, and the video encoding data in each of the at least two multimedia files, and comprising information indicative of storage address of the container format data, the audio encoding data, and the video encoding data of each of the at least two multimedia files.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing media content streaming/downloading and playback, and, more particularly, to methods, systems, and apparatuses for implementing video quality optimization based on display capabilities. In various embodiments, a computing system might receive user input from a user indicating a user request for media content. The computing system might autonomously determine characteristics or attributes of a playback device (i.e., a display device and/or audio playback device, etc.). The computing system might send, to a media content source over a network, a request for the media content, the request comprising information regarding presentation characteristics that are based at least in part on the determined characteristics of the playback device.

Abstract: A method (and structure and computer product) for an audiovisual source separation processing, including receiving video data including images of a plurality of sound sources, receiving an optical flow data of the video data, the optical flow data indicating motions of pixels between frames of the video data, and encoding the received video data into video localization data comprising information associating pixels in the frames of video data with different channels of sound.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for retrieval and output of content in a way that addresses concerns with storing multiple copies or versions of a piece of content. The piece of content may have associated computer instructions that allow the client to access alternate portions of the piece of content during consumption. This allows the content provider to store a single copy of the complete piece of content while enabling consumers to access alternate audio or video portions of the content. A new playback architecture may execute instructions associated with a piece of content. Instructions associated with a piece of content may directly affect consumption by the consumer client and may be dependent upon user preferences or interests.

Abstract: Computer technology for performing a download of a set of file(s) by multiple computer devices. Different computer devices respectively download different parts of the set of files and respectively encapsulate them with file wrappers to create multiple “sealed off portions.” Each sealed off portion indicates what portion of the code of the set of file(s) is in that sealed off portion. The multiple sealed off portions are transferred (for example, over a local area network) to another computer device, which may, or may not, be one of the multiple computers that created one of the sealed off portions, and this computer device assembles the sealed off portions to re-create the set of file(s).

In an example, it is determined that multimedia content displays an item offered for sale by a merchant. When an interaction by a user with the interactive element is detected, a graphical user interface is displayed that is configured to allow the user to purchase the item.

The method includes: obtaining an animation file in a target format; determining, in response to determining that the animation file is decoded, an animation drawing data interval meeting a stationary condition from animation drawing data obtained through decoding; caching initial animation drawing data in the animation drawing data interval; reading, in response to determining that animation drawing data corresponding to a to-be-played frame meets the stationary condition in a playback process of the animation file, the cached initial animation drawing data corresponding to the to-be-played frame; and performing animation rendering according to the read initial animation drawing data.

Notably, the digital model includes at least one model marker and the physical space includes at least one physical marker. The device also determines a viewing orientation of the digital model for display relative to the physical space based on the at least one model marker and the at least one physical marker. In addition, the device identifies a model position of a model part that corresponds to a physical position of a physical part of the structure, and displays at least a portion of the digital model based on the viewing orientation to indicate the model position of the model part.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for dynamic web streaming of media content without restore and batch processing. The system and method provides for a partial restore of media content, where a small sub-section of the archived media is requested by a user, for inclusion in an edit. The exemplary system and method provides a web server that offers grains for any part of an archived monolithic file to be made available just-in-time, instead of the batch processing. Because grains are available over HTTP, any part of the customer's archive is available to them instantly and dynamically with no restore process being required at all.

Abstract: A playback application is configured to analyze audio frames associated with transitions between segments within a media title to identify one or more portions of extraneous audio. The playback application is configured to analyze the one or more portions of extraneous audio and then determine which of the one or more corresponding audio frames should be dropped. In doing so, the playback application can analyze a topology associated with the media title to determine whether any specific portions of extraneous audio are to be played outside of a logical ordering of audio samples set forth in the topology. These specific portions of extraneous audio are preferentially removed.

Abstract: Media, methods, and systems are disclosed for processing composite streaming video in connection with a centralized service. A request is received to initiate mixing a composite video live stream having a constituent stream quantity, one or more streaming video assets, and one or more media providers. If needed, one or more subsequent media servers are provisioned. The one or more constituent video streams and the one or more streaming video assets are received at a mixing server. The composite video live stream is rendered based thereon. The rendered composite video live stream is encoded into a standardized encoded video stream, which may be stored in one or more shared memories. The standardized encoded video stream is encoded into a provider-specific encoded media stream, which is then transmitted to a corresponding media provider.

Abstract: Techniques described herein are directed to e-commerce tags in multimedia content. In an example, multimedia content is received that includes a representation of an item offered for sale by a merchant. A user profile of the viewer is determined. Identifying information including customized item details are generated based on the user profile. The identifying information is sent to a different application (on a same device or different device as the device that is playing the multimedia content), which allows for linkage of a merchant profile and user profile and enables payment for the item.

Abstract: A multi-media video conferencing platform and method which includes a user database configured to store usernames and details; a processor configured route multiple media streams to a user location; and a compiler configured to present a multimedia template at a client workstation, the template having a plurality of tiles, where each tile corresponds to a different media type, and the compiler is configured to identify a media type of an incoming media stream or media presentation. The processor routes the incoming media to a tile having a matching media type so that the media stream or presentation displays in the tile corresponding to its media type. The template presented by the compiler has tiles corresponding to at least incoming streaming video, incoming still media, and two-way interactive video.

Abstract: Systems and methods presented herein provide for improved duplex communications in an RF cable network comprising a plurality of CMs. In one embodiment, a system includes a CMTS operable to transmit downstream communications to the CMs and to process upstream communications from the CMs. The system also includes a duplex RF communication path between the CMTS and the CMs. The CMTS is further operable to transmit a control signal that directs a first of the CMs to transmit, to direct the remaining CMs to receive the transmission from the first CM, to direct the CMs to report received power levels of the transmission from the first CM, and to calculate RF isolations of the remaining CMs with respect to the first CM based on the reported power levels.

The video encoder encodes the received video data into video localization data comprising information associating pixels in the frames of video data with different channels of sound and encodes the received optical flow data into video separation data comprising information associating motion information in the frames of video data with the different channels of sound.

Abstract: A worksite classification system and method for classifying persons at a worksite is disclosed. The worksite classification system can include a sensor system configured to capture images of persons located at the worksite. An electronic data processor communicatively coupled to the sensor system and comprising a computer readable storage medium having machine readable instructions that, when executed by the electronic data processor, cause the processor to: determine an identity of the persons based on one or more identifying characteristics associated with the persons; determine if the persons have authorization access to enter to one or more operational zones at the worksite based on the identity of the persons and an associated access level; and generate an alert notifying an operator when persons without authorization access enters the one or more operational zones.

The current or future program guide information includes a first plurality of channel identifiers and a plurality of time slots that correspond to current or future time slots, and is displayed at a client device. A second request is sent, which indicates a requested time period that has already occurred and not displayed on the client device, and corresponds to navigation to a previous time slot. A second response is received, which is associated with past program guide information. The past program guide information includes a second plurality of channel identifiers and on-demand program information, and is displayed at the client device.

Abstract: A customized programming content creation system is disclosed. According to one embodiment, a media content search engine locates and retrieves media segments, and a storage component stores a user location indicator. A processor accesses scheduling information data structures for the media segments, and filters the media segments to generate a set of current local media segments. The filtering is based on a comparison of a user-associated location value with a geography value from the scheduling information data structure, and a comparison of a current time value with an expiration value from the scheduling information data structure. The set of current local media segments includes at least one local weather segment. The media segments are also filtered to identify at least one current news media segment. An integrated video stream is assembled. The stream is then transmitted for presentation on a user device of the user.

Abstract: Disclosed is an active DTV amplifier for amplifying signals and detecting and displaying the intensity of signals of an antenna. The amplifier is connected between the antenna and a coaxial cable and includes a primary signal amplification circuit connected to the antenna for performing a primary amplification of a captured antenna signal, a secondary signal amplification circuit connected to the coaxial cable for performing a secondary amplification of the antenna signal and outputting the amplified signal to a feeder coaxial cable, a signal shunt circuit for splitting and the antenna signal processed by the primary amplification into two and assigning the split signals to the single detection circuit and the secondary signal amplification circuit, and a single detection circuit connected to a microcontroller for feeding the collected antenna signal back to the microcontroller which is connected to a display screen to instantly display the intensity of the signal.

Abstract: In-vehicle entertainment (IVE) systems can have a centralized architecture to improve heat dissipation characteristics and weight and/or size of the IVE systems. A centralized system for providing in-vehicle entertainment to passengers on a commercial passenger vehicle includes a printed circuit board (PCB) in a housing locatable in a structure in the commercial passenger vehicle and a plurality of display panels and microcontrollers located in a rear portion of the structure. Each microcontroller is communicably connected to one display panel and the PCB. The PCB includes a processor configured to decode audio and/or video content and to operate a plurality of virtual machines that correspond to and perform operations such as playback functionality related to the plurality of display panels.

Abstract: A request is received from one of a plurality of terminals in a service group of a video content network. The request is to establish a session with a head end of the network. The video content network provides at least first and second different categories of sessions to the service group. The request is evaluated against a policy. The policy specifies a maximum utilization threshold for sessions of the first category and a maximum utilization threshold for sessions of the second category. The request is granted if it is in conformance with the policy. The method may be carried out, for example, with a session resource manager apparatus.

Abstract: A storage system and method for reducing read-retry duration are provided. In one embodiment, a storage system is provided comprising a memory and a controller. The controller is configured to: receive a command from a host; and in response to an interruption in processing of the command: select a time for the host to retry the command, wherein the time is selected based on an expected host response time; and communicate the selected time to the host. Abstract: Reassembly of member cells into a packet comprises receiving an incoming member cell of a packet from a switching fabric wherein each member cell comprises a segment of the packet and a header, generating a reassembly key using selected information from the incoming member cell header wherein the selected information is the same for all member cells of the packet, checking a reassembly table in a content addressable memory to find an entry that includes a logic key matching the reassembly key, and using a content index in the found entry and a sequence number of the incoming member cell within the packet, to determine a location offset in a reassembly buffer area for storing the incoming member cell at said location offset in the reassembly buffer area for the packet for reassembly.

An image processing apparatus includes an image processing section that performs, based on priorities between a plurality of encoded streams obtained by encoding a plurality of projection images that are obtained by projecting an omnidirectional image to a plurality of faces or a plurality of viewpoint images from different viewpoints, decoding of the encoded streams and generation or selection of an image to be used for generation of a display image, and a drawing section that generates the display image based on the generated or selected image.

Abstract: A video application executing on a client device allows a user to modify video data captured by the client device. The video application allows the user to transmit the video data to a viewing client device for presentation to a viewing user. For example, the video application transmits the video data to an online system, which transmits the video data to the viewing client device. The viewing user provides a request to modify the video data to the viewing client device, which transmits the request to the online system. Based on the request from the viewing client device, the online system identifies a modification to the video data to the client device, which modifies the captured video data accordingly. The modified video data is provided from the client device to the viewing client device via the online system.

Abstract: Systems, methods and computer-readable storage media for storing or caching targeted content on a receiver device using existing bandwidth within a media network are described. For example, unused bandwidth within a transport stream may be detected and targeted content may be inserted into the transport stream within the unused bandwidth. The targeted content may include targeted advertisements for a household addressable media network. The transport stream may be transmitted to the receiver device which may access and store the targeted content responsive to various targeted content signals. For instance, the transport stream may include targeted content signals configured to trigger the receive device to access and store the targeted content. The transport stream may include a commercial feed transport stream.

Abstract: Systems and methods for managing available bandwidth in a household are provided. A request to access a first media asset is received. A determination is made as to whether a bandwidth currently available in the household is sufficient for enabling access to the first media asset. When the bandwidth currently available in the household is insufficient for enabling access to the first media asset, a search is performed for a second media asset currently consuming a portion of the household bandwidth needed for enabling access to the first media asset. A third media asset is identified having a remaining duration that is more than a remaining duration of the second media asset. A message is displayed that indicates the bandwidth currently available in the household is insufficient to access the first media asset and that has an option to access the third media asset instead of the first media asset.

Abstract: A method for operating a programming receiver is provided. The method displays, by the programming receiver, a sequence of recorded video content comprising a video presentation and a plurality of segments of interstitial content; receives, at the programming receiver, a command to skip one of the plurality of segments of interstitial content; and presents a screen comprising a picture advertisement for the one of the plurality of segments of interstitial content, the screen requesting confirmation to skip the one of the plurality of segments of interstitial content in the sequence.

A a data repository is coupled to the network-connected server, storing profile information regarding individual ones of the registered participants, and rating software executes on the network-connected server, providing functionality for creating age-appropriate rating for individual ones of the UGC.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for packaging media and data for transmission over a broadband communications network link for display at a terminal destination. Features of the method included creating desired media segments for transmission to the terminal destination and for creating targeting information, for example in whole or in part in the form of metadata, for transmission to the terminal destination. Other features include packaging the created media segments and the created targeting information in a single package and unpacking the single package for display of the targeted media at the terminal destination.

Abstract: An audio converter device and a method for using the same. The audio converter device receives the digital audio data from a first device via a local area network.
