  • Patent number: 11152033
Abstract: Methods and systems for compressing video content are presented. The methods and systems include analyzing a sequence of media frames stored in the memory device and calculating a displacement level of each of the media frames. The displacement level indicates how different each of the media frames is to a previous media frame. The sequence of media frames is divided into a plurality of cuts where each cut ends at a media frame having a substantially high displacement level. Frames to be removed from the sequence of media frames are identified in each cut based upon the frame's displacement level. The identified frames are then removed.

  • Patent number: 10354354
Abstract: Methods, devices and computer program products allow improved synchronization among multiple contents. One disclosed method includes receiving a first and a second content and performing watermark extraction to recover a first timecode as part of a watermark embedded into a segment of that content. The first timecode conforms to a first type of timing system. Next, a timing system associated with the second content is determined, and a mapping is obtained that allows timecode conversion between the first and the second timing systems. Using the mapping to synchronize the presentation of the second content with that of the first content. Thus synchronization of multiple contents is properly maintained even when processing operations such as format conversion and transcoding cause metadata streams that carry timing information to be removed.

  • Patent number: 10262694
Abstract: Average pixel luminosity is calculated for each frame comprising a content item. For each pair of adjacent frames, an IFD is calculated. The IFD represents the difference between a baseline pixel luminosity associated with each of the two frames. An initial set of cut frames is selected based on IFD values that are less than a minimum value IFDmin, or that are greater than a maximum value IFDmax. The positions of these initial cut frames are optimized using a numerical optimization technique that favors removal of frames corresponding to IFD extrema, but that also attempts to maintain a minimum time gap between cut frames. Selecting frames for removal is approached as a constraint minimization problem. Once an optimized set of cut frames is established, audio is cut and crossfaded in a temporal window surrounding cut frame positions.
