Abstract: Systems and methods for displaying content based on event monitoring are disclosed herein. Control circuitry plays a delayed portion of a live content stream via a primary display window. The control circuitry detects an event in the live content stream and plays the event via a secondary display window overlaid upon the primary display window. The control circuitry determines whether to modify an aspect of a secondary display window based on the event and modifies the aspect of the secondary display window based on a result of the determining.

Abstract: A control system for a vehicle comprises a controller comprising a processor and a non-transitory computer-readable medium including instructions. The system comprises first, second, and third inputs configured to be manipulated by an operator. The system comprises first, second, and third displays adjacent the first, second, and third inputs, respectively. The first, second and third displays are configured to show first, second, and third indicia, respectively. Manipulation of the first input by the operator transmits a selection input signal to the controller. The controller receives the selection input signal. The processor compares the selection input signal to the instructions in the non-transitory computer-readable medium, transmits a selection output signal to the second and third displays, removes the second and third indicia from the second and third displays, and shows a first sub-selection indicium on the second display and a second sub-selection indicium on the third display.

Abstract: Systems, devices and automated process allow automatic replacement of advertisements or other content in previously-broadcast television programs. A content management system or the like operating on a digital network receives indicia from playback devices that have encountered identified advertisements that are stored in digital video recorders or that are otherwise contained within previously-broadcast television programs. The encounters are recorded in a database for subsequent analysis. If desired, the previously-broadcast advertisements may be replaced with more relevant or engaging advertisements prior to playback to the viewer, thereby allowing a fresher, more relevant and more engaging experience for the viewer.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a video analysis method, including: receiving a plurality of chunks of a video streamed from a server; extracting one or more frames from each chunk; analysing each frame in accordance with a static image analysis engine to generate a pornographic content rating for the frame; and combining the ratings of the frames from the plurality of chunks to generate a pornographic content rating for the video. A system and software for analysing video also described.

Abstract: An example playback device includes programming for executing functions including, while connected to both (i) a local area network and (ii) an audio playback network configured separately from the local area network and arranged for playback of media content via at least the playback device, receiving from a network device via the local area network, a request for the network device to connect to the audio playback network. The functions also include, in response to the request, transmitting to the network device via the local area network, a message indicating an identifier of the audio playback network and a password for accessing the audio playback network. The functions also include exchanging one or more messages with the network device via the audio playback network to authenticate the network device for the audio playback network and receiving an audio playback command from the network device via the audio playback network.

Abstract: Simulating user interactions during dynamic analysis of a sample is disclosed. A sample is received for analysis. Prior to execution of the sample, a baseline screenshot of a system folder is generated by accessing frame buffer data stored on a graphics card. The sample is caused to execute, at least in part using one or more hypervisor instructions to move a pointing device to an icon associated with the sample. A current screenshot of the system folder is generated by accessing current frame buffer data stored on the graphics card.

Abstract: Provided is a method for playing a plurality of videos, including: creating a sliding window with a preset length according to a first to-be-played video in the plurality of videos, wherein the sliding window comprises the first to-be-played video and a preset number of second to-be-played videos; preloading each video in the sliding window by each of video players; preloading the first to-be-played video by one of the video players and playing the first to-be-played video as a currently playing video, wherein the second to-be-played videos are preloaded by other video players; and playing one of the second to-be-played videos by calling a video player interface corresponding to the second to-be-played video in the sliding window in response to the currently playing video being switched to the second to-be-played video.

Abstract: An electronic device, computer program product, and method manage presenting and pausing of media content in response to locally detected visual and aural interruptions. The electronic device is configured to determine, using one or more sensors from among: (i) an image capturing device positioned to have a field of view of a monitored area and (ii) a microphone positioned to detect sounds in or near the monitored area. A consumer is in the monitored area during presenting of media content by a media output device. The electronic device is configured to monitor the one or more sensors to determine whether an interruption is occurring that can degrade consumer experience relative to the presenting of the media content. In response to determining that the interruption is occurring, the electronic device is configured to pause the presenting of the media content on the media output device.

Abstract: A system and method for controlling the display of video content upon one or more displays as a function of user identity as determined by facial recognition. The system and method provide for the video content to be transferred between multiple screens so as to provide a user with a substantially continuous video experience as the user travels between screen locations. User images captured by both video and still image cameras can be utilized for purposes of user recognition. One or more media hubs may be utilized in performing and supporting the disclosed technology.

Abstract: A system for encryption includes a message management module (MMM); a restricted secret server (RSS) including a restricted secret server network interface (RSS-NI) connected to the MMM and including at least one very large key (VLK) module. The system uses Terakey™ an encryption system whose intrinsic security can be demonstrated from first principles, without making assumptions about the computational difficulty of mathematical problems, such as factoring large integers or computing logarithms in finite groups. It employs a key that is much larger than the anticipated volume of message traffic. The large size of the key also reduces the risk of side channel attacks and facilitates realistic security measures to maintain a secure chain of custody for the key.

Abstract: Storage layer data obfuscation, including: determining a subset of a dataset to obfuscate in accordance with a security policy; generating, based at least in part on the security policy, an obfuscated snapshot of the dataset that is representative of the dataset with the subset of the dataset obfuscated; and sending, to a target computer system, the obfuscated snapshot from which a restored version of the dataset includes the subset of the dataset obfuscated.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media described herein are operable to facilitate a virtual currency transaction through a customer premise equipment (CPE) device. A subscriber may use a CPE device to access content offered within a content marketplace, and the CPE device may be configured to provide the subscriber with an option for purchasing content using a virtual currency. The CPE device may be configured with or may have access to a virtual currency account/wallet associated with the subscriber, and the CPE device may carry out the transaction by submitting payment information to a payee or to an upstream payment facilitating server. The virtual currency account/wallet may be installed at the CPE and may be encrypted with a subscriber PIN/password. The CPE device may provide one or more user interfaces that guide a subscriber through the process of transferring virtual currency funds in exchange for a content item.

Abstract: A management of user profiles comprises calculating, for an audio segment, a user confidence measure representing a probability that the audio segment comprises speech of a user and a group confidence measure representing a probability that the audio segment comprises speech of a group of users. A user profile is then managed based on a comparison between the user confidence measure and a user confidence threshold and between the group confidence measure and a group confidence threshold. The embodiments thereby achieve an efficient voice-controlled user profile management by utilizing a layered approach that provides user profiles for group of users as fallback when the identity of the speaking user can not accurately be recognized.

Abstract: An authentication device (101) for verifying the security of a task being performed on an electronic device (105) operated by a user (102). The authentication device includes an image capture device for capturing image data of the electronic device and of the user interacting with the electronic device. The authentication device also includes processing circuitry for processing the captured image data to determine when the electronic device is performing a security related task and to determine when the electronic device has been subject to an event that has compromised or may compromise the security of the electronic device. The authentication device also includes an audio or visual output for providing instructions to the user to interact with the electronic device and for advising the user that the electronic device has been subject to an event that has compromised or may compromise the security of the electronic device.

Abstract: Example methods and apparatus to audio watermarking and watermark detection and extraction are disclosed herein. Example methods disclosed herein include determining a first watermark symbol encoded in encoded audio samples and storing the first watermark symbol in tangible memory. Disclosed example methods also include determining a second watermark symbol encoded in the encoded audio samples and storing the second watermark symbol in the tangible memory. Disclosed example methods further include, in response to determining that the first watermark symbol matches the second watermark symbol, outputting the first watermark symbol.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a device of a software defined wide area network (SD-WAN) predicts characteristics of a new traffic flow to be admitted to the SD-WAN, based on a set of initial packets of the flow. The device predicts an impact of admitting the flow to the SD-WAN, based in part on extrinsic or exogenous data regarding the SD-WAN. The device admits the flow to the SD-WAN, based on the predicted impact. The supervisory device uses reinforcement learning to adjust one or more call admission control (CAC) parameters of the SD-WAN, based on captured telemetry data regarding the admitted flow.

Abstract: Automatic determination of underlying reasons for lack of treatment adherence is provided. In various embodiments, patient information for a patient is retrieved. The patient information comprises a treatment plan. A failure of compliance with the treatment plan by the patient is determined from the patient information. The failure of compliance and the patient information are evaluated to determine one or more potential cause of the failure of compliance. The one or more potential cause is provided to a user for review.

Sensor data may be processed to extract a feature. Entry data may be determined for a profile entry based on the extracted feature so that the profile entry may incorporate the determined entry data. An exchangeable profile may be derived from the constructed profile, for example by using privacy data, and compensation from a third party may be received in return for the exchangeable profile.

Abstract: A gateway for location at a user premises is provided. Bother users and user devices are registered with the gateway which is provided by a service provider. Users access services, such as video streaming, on their user devices via the gateway. The gateway allows users to share content. The gateway collects information about the user's patterns of behaviour for the system provider, and can be used to directly obtain feedback from the user.

Abstract: A token device includes: a transmission interface for receiving power from an external device; a physiological characteristic detecting circuit for detecting user's touch actions and physiological characteristics (i.e., biometric characteristics); a smart card accessing circuit for detecting user's card-placing actions and for accessing an on-card secure chip on a smart card; an on-token secure chip; and a control circuit for generating an user identification data corresponding to the detecting result of the physiological characteristic detecting circuit, for respectively transmitting the user identification data to the on-token secure chip and the on-card secure chip for verifying user's identity. If the user's identity is confirmed by both the on-token secure chip and the on-card secure chip, the control circuit would conduct corresponding key backup operations or key restoration operations between the on-token secure chip and the on-card secure chip.

The access node may be part of a system including a server.

Abstract: A system and methods are disclosed that enable advertisers, publishers, and consumers to interact to provide well-targeted advertisement impressions, while preserving consumer privacy. Particularly, the system and methods enable accurate and reliable targeting of advertisements without the need for privacy-invasive tracking and collection of consumer information by advertisers or publishers. Instead, the consumer retains complete control of his or her own private information, even while that private information is used for programmatic targeting of advertisements. The system and methods disclosed herein advantageously utilize blockchain as a tool for arbitrating data, which accounts for and helps to eliminate fraud, costly arbitrage, and brand safety concerns by providing the programmatic advertising ecosystem with trust, permanence, transparency, and auditability.

Abstract: A method of displaying survey results is disclosed. In one embodiment, for each response to each item by each survey respondent, a calibrated score is determined. The calibrated score is based on a probability that a person having the collection of respondent segments associated with the survey respondent would provide either the response to the item or any of the response options to the item that are lower on the ordinal scale, or the response to the item or any of the response options to the item that are higher on the ordinal scale. An organization composite score is determined based on the calibrated score for each response. A display includes images corresponding with the organization composite score and other organization composite scores. Each image is located with respect to a first axis based on the associated organization composite score.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for delivering selected multimedia content to a user of a mobile device in a pervasive computing environment is disclosed. Communications with a mobile device in the environment is established. A user profile and viewing history is received from the mobile device. Multimedia content is selected and sequenced for viewing by the user. The selection of multimedia content is based on search logic that includes the user profile and viewing history. Metadata is transmitted to the mobile device that is associated with the selected multimedia content.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for a transportation vehicle. One method includes parsing by a processor on an aircraft, metadata of media content received by the aircraft, while the aircraft is in flight, the media content includes a media file and the metadata. The metadata indicates a start date when the media content can be presented to a device on the aircraft and an end date when media content is to become inaccessible. The method further includes dynamically generating a unique identifier for the media content by the processor, the unique identifier based on an aircraft identifier; updating the metadata by the processor by associating the unique identifier with the media content; storing the media content with the updated metadata and an indicator when the media content is to be deleted; and using the unique identifier by the processor for tracking usage of the media content on the aircraft.

Abstract: A system for remote diagnostic analysis of a heating, ventilation and air condition (HVAC) system is provided. The system includes a thermostat in operable communication with at least one peripheral component of the HVAC system and configured to receive information relating to the at least one peripheral component, and a server in operable communication with the thermostat for receiving and analyzing the information. The server causes the at least one peripheral component to conduct a diagnostic test and analyzes the test result to perform a root cause analysis of a system malfunction.

Abstract: Among other things, embodiments of the present disclosure can help monitor activity of customers using web portals to access services. Examples of such activity include log-ins to a web portal, views of account statements through the web portal, transactions made on the account, and the like. Embodiments of the present disclosure can generate a model relating customer characteristics to expected account activity. The system can apply the model to individual customers and compares actual account activity to expected account activity. If a mismatch is detected, the system may generate an alert message directed to a administrator or other type of user who can contact the customer to troubleshoot the identified issues.
