Abstract: A method for automatically annotating an intended video with at least one personalized recap video based on previously viewed videos is provided. The method may include automatically tracking user viewership of the previously viewed videos, and in response to detecting an intention to view the intended video: automatically identifying and extracting a subset of video footage from one or more of the previously viewed videos based on the tracked user viewership and based on a determined relevancy of the subset of video footage to content in the intended video; generating the at least one personalized recap video by compiling and sorting the extracted subset of video footage from the one or more previously viewed videos into a compilation video; and annotating the intended video with the at least one personalized video by presenting the at least one personalized recap video on the intended video.

In one or more embodiments, the inputs comprise a text (e.g., an article) of the key event(s) (e.g., a goal, a player action, etc.) in an activity (e.g., a game, a concert, etc.) and a video or videos of the activity. In one or more embodiments, the output is a short video of an event or events in the text, in which the video may include commentary about the highlighted events and/or other audio (e.g., music), which may also be automatically synthesized.

Abstract: A data providing apparatus obtains first privacy data and second privacy data, encrypts the first privacy data by using an encryption algorithm to obtain a ciphertext of the first privacy data, and sends the ciphertext of the first privacy data and the second privacy data to a data processing apparatus. The data processing apparatus inputs the ciphertext of the first privacy data and the second privacy data into a ciphertext computation function to obtain a ciphertext of a data processing result. In this way, the first privacy data is used in computation in a ciphertext form, thereby ensuring security. When the media device pauses the media content, the display device can determine that a pause event has occurred and insert an ad shown on the display device. Further, some embodiments include determining the context and/or content of the media content that is paused, and determining an ad that is customized to the determined context and/or content to be displayed on the display device. In some embodiments, the display device can determine additional information from the control signal that may also be used to determine the ad to be displayed on the display device.

Abstract: Systems and methods for playback of generative media content via wearable audio playback devices such as headphones are disclosed. In one method, the wearable device detects that it is being worn by a user, and obtains one or more input parameters via a network interface. Next, generative media content is generated based on the one or more input parameters and played back via the wearable playback device. In some examples, after detecting that the wearable playback device is no longer being worn by the user, playback ceases.

Abstract: A subtitle segmentation system employs a neural network model to find good segment boundaries. The model may be trained on millions of professionally segmented subtitles, and implicitly learns from data the underlying guidelines that professionals use. For controlling different characteristics of the output subtitles, the neural model may be combined with a number of heuristic features. To find the best segmentation according to the model combination, a dedicated beam search decoder may be implemented. The segmentation system incorporates a trained neural model comprising a word embedding layer, at least two bi-directional LSTM layers, a softmax layer and program instructions for segmenting text into subtitles.

One or more remote probes may retrieve tag identifier(s) from advertisement media and output tag information to a centralized verification system. The centralized verification system may compare tag information retrieved from remote probes to expected advertisement placement parameters. The centralized verification system may verify that appropriate advertisement media has been spliced into expected channels or streams. When a splicing error has been detected, the centralized verification system may initiate changes to correct the splicing error.

The second radio signal has a frequency higher than the predetermined frequency. The at least one first antenna has a transmitter and is configured to wirelessly transmit, via the transmitter, the second radio signal to the CPE. The CPE includes at least one second antenna configured to receive the second radio signal from the at least one first antenna and a second frequency converter configured to convert the second radio signal into the first radio signal.

In response to determining that the user input the explicit preference for the media asset corresponding to the media asset identifier, the media guidance application may determine display dimensions of the second media asset identifier, select a graphic that corresponds to the display dimensions, and generate for display the selected graphic as a background graphic of the media asset identifier.

Abstract: Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) may facilitate insurance-related tasks. UAVs may actively be dispatched to an area surrounding a property, and collect data related to property. A location for an inspection of a property to be conducted by a UAV may be received, and one or more images depicting a view of the location may be displayed via a user interface. Additionally, a geofence boundary may be determined based on an area corresponding to a property boundary, where the geofence boundary represents a geospatial boundary in which to limit flight of the UAV. Furthermore, a navigation route may be determined which corresponds to the geofence boundary for inspection of the property by the UAV, the navigation route having waypoints, each waypoint indicating a location for the UAV to obtain drone data. The UAV may be directed around the property using the determined navigation route.

These implementations can be operated by an alliance of entities that cooperate in order to facilitate, and benefit from, transactions between customers and merchants, where the customer is incented to conduct the transaction with the merchant by the merchant's agreement to make a donation to an entity of the customer's choice.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for generating secondary content scheduling and dynamic insertion for users of a managed content distribution network, such as a cable, satellite, of HFCu network. In one embodiment, the secondary content comprises advertising content which is directly related or tied to demographics, psychographics, and/or other metrics of applicability to one or more users of the content distribution network. Individual insertion opportunities are identified (either in advance or dynamically), and relevant or targeted secondary content is dynamically “switched in” for delivery to the one or more users via interaction between a local or client application (e.g., operative on the user's set top box or personal electronic device) and a switched digital video entity of the network, and subsequently switched out if no longer required, thereby conserving network bandwidth and/or other resources.

Abstract: Techniques for packet-accurate targeted content substitution by a stitcher are described herein. In some embodiments, the stitcher at a client device receives a live transport stream (TS) and a splice message indicating a start time and an end time of a splice period. The stitcher locates in the live TS a video packet with a video packet identifier (PID) and an audio packet with an audio PID crossing the start time. The stitcher injects to the live TS targeted content TS packets within the splice period, where the injection includes re-stamping PIDs and presentation timestamps of the targeted content TS packets to match the live TS packets, and re-stamping the live TS packets with a predefined PID starting from the video packet and the audio packet, and ceasing the re-stamping when a respective audio packet in the live TS packets crossing the end time.

In one example, different device specific media asset lists are generated at different user devices for the same user based on the media consumption history at each device. In another example, media asset listings are displayed for multicast and on-demand media assets determined to be of interest to the user. An on-demand media asset is listed at a time when no other multicast media assets are listed. In another example, media asset listings for successive episodes of a media series are displayed in sequential order in response to an input to view successive episodes of a media series. In another example, a text search for media content is performed in which the search priority of media provider results is decreased relative to the search priority of media asset results as additional characters are added to a search string.

In response to receiving selection of the option to delay the action, the action may be scheduled to occur at a later second time within the presentation of the media asset.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for adjusting the priority of media assets scheduled to be recorded to reflect the current behavior and interests of the user. For example, a household with young children may have scheduled recordings for the DVR with a wide variety of television shows of different genres (e.g., Children's Shows, Sports Games, and Crime Procedurals) and as the children grow up, the preference may gradually shift towards other types of shows. As this shift of interest happens over time, it can be difficult or impossible for the user to change the priority of each of the media assets of the scheduled recordings each time the interests of the user changes an incremental amount.

In an example, upon a user request, a menu is presented over content from a first application based on an execution of a menu application. The menu comprises a window presented in a first state that corresponds to a second application other than the first application. Upon a user selection of the window, the window is transitioned and presented in a second state. During the transition, an overlay window supported by an application module is presented that completely overlaps the window in the second state. While the window and the overlay window are in the second state, options to perform actions on the overlay window or content of the overlay window are presented.

The playback context can include local playback context information related to the state and/or context of the user device. The playback context can include remote playback context information related to the state and/or context of available remote playback devices. Based on the playback context information obtained by the user device, the user device can generate a predictive score for each available playback device that indicates or predicts the likelihood that the user will want to send media content to the corresponding playback device. The user device can generate and present a graphical user interface that can identify the playback devices having predictive scores over a threshold score. In some instances, the user device can automatically route selected media content to a predicted playback device.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatus include computer programs encoded on a computer-readable storage medium, including a system for ranking videos. Videos are identified that have been presented at client devices. For each video, session start data is identified that specifies a lead video that initiated presentation to a user during a presentation session. For each lead video, presentation times over multiple user sessions are determined, a scaled presentation time is obtained, user sessions for which the lead video initiated presentation of videos are identified, and an aggregate video presentation time attributable to the lead video is determined. For each given video, a presentation score is determined based on a scaled presentation time of the lead video relative to a sum of the aggregate video presentation times for the lead videos. The videos are ranked based on the presentation scores. A user interface is updated to present the ranked videos.

Abstract: A system for construing a content presentation is disclosed. According to one embodiment, the system includes Input/Output (I/O) circuitry to receive an indicated location, and memory to store scheduling information that includes a location information and date information associated with the location information. A processor identifies at least one media segment for inclusion into a customized media programming stream based on (a) comparing the indicated location to the location information from the scheduling information; and (b) comparing the current date to the associated date information from the scheduling information. Further, the processer assembles a customized media programming stream by adding the at least one identified media segment to the customized media programming stream. The I/O circuitry transmits the customized media programming stream for presentation on a user device.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for automatically uploading media content from a mobile device to an online service provider can include receiving, in the mobile device, identifying information corresponding to a user account associated with at least one of a plurality of online service providers; capturing media content with a media input component included in the mobile device; and after the media content is captured, automatically uploading to the at least one online service provider the captured media content and the identifying information, without receiving user input contemporaneous with the automatic uploading that specifies that the captured media content is to be uploaded. The mobile device can further include a wireless communication component configured to wirelessly send data to and wirelessly receive data from the plurality of online service providers, which can be external to the mobile device.
