Projected Image Combined With Real Object Patents (Class 353/28)
  • Patent number: 10800505
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, relating to an autonomous aerial personal assistant device (AAPAD). The AAPAD can include a base unit housing various electronic components, a balloon for providing lift to carry a weight of the base unit, and a positioning unit that maintains a position of the balloon based at least on feedback provided by a plurality of sensors and computers. In some implementations, a request to initiate a communication session can be received on the AAPAD. Data indicating a presence of the user can then be obtained. A preset distance between the user and the AAPAD can be determined. Instructions to one or more components of the AAPAD can then be transmitted to automatically navigate the AAPAD to travel toward a location of the user.

Abstract: A projection system projects an image corresponding to a shape of an object. The projection system includes a non-visible light projection unit, an imager, an image generation unit, and a visible-light projection unit. The non-visible light projection unit projects a predetermined non-visible light image with non-visible light having predetermined polarized light as a main component, onto the object and a background member that reflects the non-visible light while the background member maintains the predetermined polarized light. The imager images a non-visible light image reflected by the object and the background member while blocking the non-visible light of the predetermined polarized light, and generates imaged data. The image generation unit measures the shape of the object based on the imaged data, and generates image data according to a measurement result. The visible-light projection unit projects an image shown by the image data, onto the object with visible light.

Abstract: A display system that is particularly well-suited for use in providing or displaying a live cinematic performance to an audience. The system includes a first space that is directly viewable by the audience and that is illuminated with a stage lighting assembly. Human, robotic, or other physical performers are positioned in the first space and selectively illuminated by light from the stage lighting. The system includes a Pepper's ghost assembly configured to provide enhanced brightness of the projected image as background items in the Pepper's ghost assembly's space are hidden from view by the audience. The Pepper's ghost assembly may include one or more high speed projectors or other light sources, a high speed vision system, and black retroreflective material, and these components function in combination to allow the assembly to be operated to selectively light objects and people in the hidden space without projecting the background to the audience.

Abstract: A display device may be inserted into a video conferencing device to provide a more tailored approach to talking and viewing other conversation participants in real time. In one example, a base supports a bottom portion of a computing device at an angled position. A frame supports side portions of the computing device at the angled position so a first optical element with a reflective surface can reflect content of the computing device. Also, a second optical element that is at a higher position than the first optical element includes a beamsplitting surface to receive a reflection from the first optical element as part of a head-up display setup. A hood may be used to cover a portion of the area of all the other components to prevent a portion of ambient light from reaching the first optical element and the second optical element.
