  • Patent number: 10239722
Abstract: The invention provides a punching system that has a relatively simple structure to provide an apparatus reduced in overall size and having a low profile, and can produce a high-quality punched hole while conveying a sheet. The punching system includes a punching device that has a punching member moving back and forth perpendicularly to the sheet being conveyed, a frame, and a sheet conveyance mechanism. The punching device is attached to the frame by an attachment unit in such a manner that it is movable in the sheet conveyance direction. The sheet conveyance mechanism includes carry-out rollers that sandwich the downstream end of the sheet at the start of sheet punching motion of the punching member and that are installed at positions downstream from and transversely corresponding to the punching position.

  • Patent number: 10022885
Abstract: A punching device includes a punching unit, a driving unit, an edge detecting unit, a punching position setting unit, and a punching controlling unit. The punching unit punches three holes in a transported sheet along its transport direction. The driving unit moves the punching unit in an orthogonal direction. The edge detecting unit detects, in at least two locations separated from each other in the transport direction, an edge position of an edge of the sheet on one side in the orthogonal direction. The punching position setting unit sets a punching position corresponding to a hole to be punched by the punching unit in the orthogonal direction, on the basis of an amount of change in the orthogonal direction between the two edge positions. The punching controlling unit causes the punching unit to move to the punching position and punch a hole in the sheet.

  • Patent number: 8274711
Abstract: When reading of the documents set on the document feed tray is given priority by user designation, the documents set on the document feed tray are read first, then the document set on the platen plate is read. When reading of the document set on the platen plate is given priority, the document set on the platen plate is read first, then the documents set on the document feed tray are read. Even when originals are composed of documents that can be set on the document feed tray and an original that cannot be set on the document feed tray, use of the above configuration makes it possible to achieve copying of the originals as one job.

  • Patent number: 6252654
Abstract: A detecting lever for a remaining amount of recording papers is provided at the bottom of a paper cassette. The top of the detecting lever abuts on the recording paper contained in the paper cassette. As the recording paper is used, the detecting lever is rotated in a thickness direction of the recording papers. The rotation of the detecting lever is transmitted to an indicating lever, one end of which engages with the detecting lever. Upon rotation of the detecting lever, the other end of the indicating lever is adapted to be largely moved. A label for indicating the remaining amount of the recording paper is provided on the other end of the indicating lever. The remaining amount is represented by the label in accordance with the movement of the indicating lever.

  • Patent number: 6014920
Abstract: In a paper-punching device for use in an image-forming apparatus, the rear edge of a sheet of paper that is being transported through a transport guide is detected by the photosensor. After a predetermined time has passed since the detection, a punching device is activated. At this time, a punching member is depressed downward, and a punching blade attached to its top penetrates through the sheet of paper, thereby forming a punch hole. Even during the punching operation, transport rollers continue to rotate. Therefore, when the sheet of paper is caught by the punching blade, the transport rollers are allowed to slip predetermined amount with respect to the paper. For this reason, at least one of the transport rollers is made of a foamed material. With this arrangement, since the punching operation is carried out on the rear side of the sheet of paper, it becomes possible to reduce the occurrence of paper jams even if sheets of paper are transported in succession.
