Publication number: 20130155422Abstract: Correction data is produced for density errors in prints produced using a printer. While printing a test image, the periods of rotation of one or more rotatable imaging members arranged along a receiver feed path in the printer are measured using respective period sensors. The printed test image is measured along a selected measurement direction and a reproduction error signal representing deviation from aim density is determined. For each period sensor, the autocorrelation of the reproduction error signal for the corresponding period is determined. If the determined autocorrelation exceeds a selected threshold, the reproduction error signal is decomposed at the corresponding period to extract the variation from the measured component. The remaining error signal is separated by frequency terms. The variations from the data at measured periods and the remaining error signal are used to produce a correction signal.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2011Publication date: June 20, 2013Inventors: Chung-Hui Kuo, Hwai-Tzuu Tai, Stacy M. Patent number: 8467101Abstract: An image forming device includes a density detector that detects image density, and a memory that stores information relating image density to dot size. When a dot size is specified, the image forming device automatically obtains the corresponding image density from the information in the memory, prints a test pattern, compares its density with the density corresponding to the specified dot size, and adjusts an image forming parameter until the density corresponding to the specified dot size is obtained. Dot size can be accurately adjusted in this way without the need for elaborate measuring equipment. Publication number: 20130128286Abstract: When image is formed by a liquid ejection head, input image data is subjected to conversion processing including tone conversion using a first look-up table (LUT) and density correction or non-uniformity correction in nozzle units using second LUTs. Ink use amount in image formation is predicted from reduced image data which is generated from the input image data. In this, the calculation is made more efficient by applying a third LUT which is compiled according to requirements from the second LUTs, to the reduced image data, rather than using the second LUTs directly. Since the image conversion processing is carried out which combines the first LUT for tone conversion and the third LUT corresponding to the non-uniformity correction, and the ink amount distribution data is calculated from the reduced image data after the conversion, then it is possible to ascertain an accurate ink amount which reflects the image adjustment conditions.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 20, 2012Publication date: May 23, 2013Applicant: FUJIFILM CORPORATIONInventor: FUJIFILM CORPORATION

Patent number: 8441691Abstract: What is disclosed is a system and method for generating a destination profile LUT. In a manner more fully described herein, a high resolution LUT (e.g., 100-cube LUT) is received. Regions of high curvature of the gamut of an image output device are identified. A non-parametric dynamic optimization node selection method is utilized to select a subset of nodes from the high resolution profile LUT which captures these nonlinearities. Down-sampling the high resolution LUT produces a low resolution LUT. The low resolution LUT is up-sampled to a size of the high resolution LUT to obtain a reconstructed LUT. An error is then calculated between the reconstructed LUT and high resolution LUT. The process of node selection is iteratively repeated until all the subsets of nodes are considered. A destination profile LUT is then generated from the subset of nodes with the least error.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 2010Date of Patent: May 14, 2013Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Lalit Keshav Mestha, Prudhvi Krishna Gurram

Patent number: 8432566Abstract: A printer driver conserves recording paper by removing blank space formed at the top and bottom of each page when printing. The print data for printing this middle area is then extracted and printed. When printing is completed, the recording paper is conveyed only the difference between the page length and the transportation distance of the recording paper to set the print head to a position separated only the page length from the printing start position of the area print data, that is, to a position touching the middle area. As a result, blank space between the middle areas of consecutively printed pages is eliminated.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 2009Date of Patent: April 30, 2013Assignee: Seiko Epson CorporationInventors: Tadashi Adachi, Toshiyuki Sugimoto

The conveying path along which a document to be scanned by the first and second scanning mechanisms is conveyed is formed to surround the second reduction-optics data-capturing unit. Thus, the device can be made compact.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 2008Date of Patent: April 16, 2013Assignee: Nisca CorporationInventors: Masataka Hamada, Seiji Nishizawa, Yutaka Tanaka, Kazuhisa Mochizuki

Patent number: 8422047Abstract: A storage unit stores therein a plurality of document data and a reoutput condition associated with any of the document data. The reoutput condition defines an output condition used when the document data is reoutput. A selection receiving unit receives selections of the document data including at least one reoutput-conditioned document data that is associated with the reoutput condition as document data to be output. A condition setting unit sets the reoutput condition associated with selected reoutput-conditioned document data as the output condition. An image output unit outputs all the document data of which the selections are received by the selection receiving unit on the output condition set by the condition setting unit.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 2010Date of Patent: April 16, 2013Assignee: Ricoh Company, LimitedInventor: Shingo Ohta

Publication number: 20130088727Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for correcting systematic errors in positional data of electronic devices configured to navigate across a surface. An apparatus configured to correct positional errors may comprise one or more navigation sensors, and a position module configured to control the one or more navigation sensors to capture a plurality of navigational measurements and adjust the navigational measurements by one or more scaling factors to determine a translation path of the apparatus over a medium. The one or more scaling factors may be constructed by capturing a plurality of navigational measurements to determine a detected translation path of an apparatus, comparing an actual translation path of the apparatus to the detected translation path of the apparatus, and generating the one or more scaling factors based at least in part on a difference between the actual translation path and the detected translation path. Other embodiments also are described.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 30, 2012Publication date: April 11, 2013Applicant: MARVELL WORLD TRADE LTD.Inventor: Marvell World Trade Ltd.

Patent number: 8416449Abstract: A print control apparatus of a printing system, which performs overlay printing using a pre-created form, lets a user designate a field in the form for data to be inserted into the field in the overlay printing. In executing overlay printing of plural pages, the data to be inserted into the designated field is analyzed to determine whether or not one same data is repetitive. In a case where it is determined that the one same data is repetitive, the form is not created, but in a case where it is determined that the one same data is not repetitive, the form including the data is created.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2009Date of Patent: April 9, 2013Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Kinya Honda

Patent number: 8416441Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for scan workflow processing to correctly and reliably generate a final output for a user. A workflow control service identifies capabilities of one or more devices for performing post processing steps defined in a scan workflow. An image scanner is utilized to scan a document to generate scanned document data. The workflow control service provides the post processing steps to the one or more of the devices based on the identified capabilities for each respective device. The devices then perform the post processing steps on the scanned document data to generate a final output. The workflow control service then transmits the output data to a device identified by the workflow to generate the final output.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 2009Date of Patent: April 9, 2013Assignee: Ricoh Company, LtdInventor: Lifen Tian
