Abstract: An image processing apparatus is provided which determines a printing position of an identification code in accordance with a print setting designated for printing target data. For example, it makes a decision as to which one of the cutting printing, poster printing, job-based printing (such as bookbinding printing or staple printing), 2-sided printing, and other printing (such as normal layout printing and reduction layout (Nup) printing) is designated, and decides the printing position of a two-dimensional code. In page layout printing, the two-dimensional code is output in a mode suitable for source document data after page layout.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for visually representing print jobs in a print queue. In one embodiment, a system comprising a print queue, a scheduler, and a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is disclosed. The print queue stores print jobs for a printer. The scheduler estimates a time to print each of the print jobs on the printer. The GUI displays a graphical representation of each of the print jobs in the print queue, where a size of a graphical representation of each of the print jobs is based on the estimated time to print each of the print jobs.

Abstract: A printing program can be executed by a processing apparatus connected to a printing apparatus including a recording head transfer section for reciprocating, in a main scanning direction, a recording head for discharging ink, and a recording medium transfer section for moving the recording medium in a sub-scanning direction. The program determines total movement distances of an image at angles relative to an original position according to a first movement distance by which the recording head would move in the main scanning direction from a start of movement of the recording head to an end of discharging the ink medium if printing were performed and a second movement distance by which the recording medium would move in the sub-scanning direction if printing were performed. The program causes the printing apparatus to print the image at the angular position of the image corresponding to the smallest total movement distance.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus including an image retrieving unit that retrieves image information of a revision document, which includes revision information having area definitions and position numbers corresponding to each of the area definitions. The apparatus also includes a re-positioning instruction image retrieving unit that retrieves image information of a re-position instruction sheet, which includes the position numbers in locations different from the locations of the area definitions corresponding to each of the position numbers of the revision document. A position number recognizing unit is also provided, which recognizes the position numbers in the re-positioning instruction image as re-positioning instructions. A re-positioning unit of the image processing apparatus then re-position each of the area definitions of the revision document based on the repositioning instructions recognized by the position number recognizing unit.

  • Patent number: 8223351
Abstract: A method of measuring and correcting the Young's Modulus inline to eliminate its impact on image length variation during print runtime. The method includes intentionally perturbing the nominal operating condition of the web printing system which is controlled by the double reflex printing controller. The perturbation creates misregistration in a control target printed image that is detectable by in-situ sensors, from which Young's Modulus is estimated. Specifically, the web tension before the print zone is set differently from the web tension in the print zone to create misregistration. The error is detected by the inline sensors, and it is used to calculate the actual Young's Modulus. The implementation of the method consists of measuring the Young's Modulus at various frequencies. The correct Young's Modulus in then incorporated into the double reflex printing algorithm.

Abstract: A print method and apparatus for minimizing effects of error in repositioning during printing process may include generating successive scans of a recording head, wherein the scans may partially overlap to account for the error in repositioning. As an example, after the recording head makes one scan across the document being printed, the document (or the head) may be repositioned for the next scan so that several print elements of the recording head are aligned to lie between certain rows of dots printed in the previous scan, resulting in a higher number of rows in the overlapping portion of the scans. Additional features may include varying the row/column arrangement of dots in the overlap portion, or performing error diffusion and correction for different areas of resolution in the scans.

  • Patent number: 8189245
Abstract: If an image is shifted in increments of pixels according to scan line changing points, the printed image suffers from jaggies or boundaries at positions corresponding to the scan line changing points. The jaggies or boundaries are also produced when a 1/2 speed or a 1/3 speed obtained by varying the process speed is used. Consequently, it has been impossible to obtain high-quality output images. An image forming apparatus is offered which has a printing unit operating to print at different process speeds and a control unit for controlling the output range of output image data for each line according to the process speeds. When the process speed in use is lower than a normal process speed, a part of 1 line of image data is outputted divisionally at timings at which lines from which image is not usually outputted at this low process speed are scanned.
