Abstract: When trimming is performed on a photograph image obtained by a photography apparatus, a plurality of trimming range candidates is set by analyzing the photograph image. A judgment is made as to whether the zoom magnification ratio of the photography apparatus during photography corresponds to a predetermined limit, the limit being a maximum zoom magnification ratio or a minimum zoom magnification ratio that can be set by the photography apparatus. A trimming range is set by selecting one of the plurality of trimming range candidates. If the zoom magnification ratio is judged to be a magnification ratio corresponding to the predetermined limit, a trimming range candidate that has a smaller or larger range than that of a trimming range candidate selected if the zoom magnification ratio is judged to be a magnification ratio that does not correspond to the predetermined limit is selected as the trimming range.

Abstract: In order to make it possible to simply order extra prints, an image viewing/ordering ID and an image viewing/ordering password and an order determining ID and an order determining password are issued (created) when input of image data is accepted. Each of members belonging to a group transmits to a server 6 the image viewing/ordering ID and password to a server 6 using a portable telephone set 20A. Image data related to the image viewing/ordering ID is transmitted to the portable telephone set 20A from the server 6. While seeing images displayed on a display screen of the portable telephone set 20A, each of the members belonging to the group selects the image whose extra prints are ordered, and transmits the number of ordered prints of the image to the server 6. Abstract: An apparatus for scanning a photograph with PictBridge capability is provided, which includes a light source, an image sensor, a signal converter, a PictBridge encoder, and a universal serial bus (USB) controller. The light source projects a scanning light onto an object to be scanned. Upon contacting with the object to be scanned, the scanning light is reflected as a reflected light. The image sensor receives the reflected light and then transmits an image signal to the signal converter to be converted into a digital image data. The digital image signal is encoded by the PictBridge encoder to a direct-printing code. Finally, the USB controller encodes the direct-printing code into a universal serial bus signal and transmits to a printer via a USB wire, so as to print the image by the printer.

The exposure chamber is provided with a plane mirror disposed in such a manner as to be inclined 45 degrees with respect to the optical axis of the taking lens. Since the plane mirror reflects light from a subject, a photographic optical path of the light is perpendicularly bent. Subject light forms an image on the photo film disposed in parallel with the optical axis. A side print is exposed in the manufacture on the lateral edge of the photo film. Since the orientation of the photographed image is the same as that of the side print, it is possible to easily confirm the orientation of the photographed image in the development and print processes.

The scanned digitized image of the photographic print is compared to digital image data which represents the original captured image. The resulting digital correction data indicates whether or not there are defects in the print media or faults in the printer process, including the digitizing steps. Signal processing transformations may be used to decide how to separate media defects from processing faults and how to correct for the latter. The method of the present invention can be used as a final quality check so that any defective prints can be rejected and remade before orders go out to a customer.

  • Patent number: 7098941
Abstract: An image recording surface of an exposed instant film is held so as to face an optical head module. Read light (white light) emitted from a light source passes a transparent portion of a color-separation filter, a first mirror, a first graded-index-type optical fiber array, and a second mirror in order. Then, the read light is radiated toward an instant film from an opening of the optical head module. The second mirror is set to a read position where the read light is inclined by a predetermined angle relative to the instant film. The read light is reflected by the image recording surface of the instant film and enters a line-CCD sensor via a second graded-index-type optical fiber array. By moving the optical head module in a sub-scanning direction, it is possible to read an image from the instant film.

The frame contains grooves along the side edges of the frame that correspond with accepting gears of a scanner such as a 4,000-dpi scanner. The central support provides a mounting surface for a piece of film to be scanned, wherein the film is mounted on the central support with a mounting fluid. The mounting fluid smoothes over imperfections in the film and central support, and holds the film secure to the support over the entire surface area of the film, thereby improving scan quality.

Abstract: A method for printing digital image data onto light-sensitive material, such as photographic paper, is disclosed. The image data to be reproduced are received at a reader station, an exposure correction is applied to the image data in a computing station, and the exposure-corrected data are printed onto the light-sensitive material by means of a printer module. The image data are corrected during the exposure correction in a manner that is both specific for the type of light-sensitive material used as well as for the image data. A printing over-exposure may be compensated during image output by the combination of these two dependencies during correction of the image data.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a CPU. In a camera mode, a TIFF file in which main image data is stored in such a manner as to satisfy a predetermined condition is recorded-by the CPU in a recording medium. When such the TIFF file is selected in a reproducing mode, the TIFF file itself is transferred from the recording medium to an SDRAM, and the main image data included in this TIFF file is subjected to a reproducing process by an ASIC. Herein, the predetermined condition includes a condition that a deviance amount between a head location of the TIFF file and a head location of the main image data is an integral multiple of “4”, that is, the number of bytes storable in one address of the SDRAM.
