Patent number: 8576418Abstract: A method generates a set of color patches that can be used to characterize a color printer. An accurate reference printer model is selected. A base set of calibration patches is printed and measured. The measurements are used to generate a model that can be used to predict the color produced by the reference printer for any combination of its colorants. The base set of patches is supplemented by a set of patches chosen to reduce the maximum color error produced by using the model compared to the predictions of a reference printer model. The supplemented set of patches is used to generate a more accurate model of the printer. The supplemented set of patches is used to recalibrate other instances of the printer.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2010Date of Patent: November 5, 2013Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Raja Bala, Yonghui Zhao

Patent number: 8446601Abstract: A disclosed control device includes a first unit configured to generate image data of multiple images to be superposed one on the other to form a single image and transmit the image data. The second control unit transmits to the first control unit a horizontal sync reference signal for achieving synchronization of the images in a horizontal direction. Based on the horizontal sync reference signal, the first control unit transmits to the second control unit a transfer clock signal that indicates transmission timing of the image data and an effective area signal that indicates an effective area of the image data. The first control unit asserts the effective area signal for an effective-area-signal assertion period that occurs between two consecutive reference-signal assertion periods during which the horizontal sync reference signal is asserted.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2008Date of Patent: May 21, 2013Assignee: Ricoh Company, Ltd.Inventor: Eiji Tsuchida

Patent number: 8335014Abstract: A test pattern containing plurality of patches recorded using small dot patterns and large dot patterns is printed. The dot sizes arranged in the patches are different between patches. Then the test patterns are read. The detection rate and average density of additional information embedded in each large dot pattern are obtained. A large dot pattern whose detection rate and average density fall within a reference range and are closest to ideal values is determined. The average density of each small dot pattern is obtained. Publication number: 20020105680Abstract: When detecting a signal from a communication network, signal detection is performed corresponding to the characteristics of a communication apparatus of a communication partner and the characteristics of the communication network, and to prevent erroneous detection of a signal due to a voice or the like. More specifically, using a tone detection function of a modem of a communication unit, a control unit determines if a signal of at least one period has been detected in accordance with detection parameters, i.e., a frequency, a level, and an on-time and an off-time, which correspond to a tone signal to be detected and which can deal with variations in the characteristics of the signal. When a signal of at least one period has been detected, changed detection parameters are calculated and set by adding margins to the frequency, the level, and the on-time and the off-time of the detected signal, and a signal of at least one period is again detected using the newly set detection parameters.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 26, 1998Publication date: August 8, 2002Inventor: TERUYUKI NISHII
