  • Patent number: 8294910
Abstract: An image scanner operates in a normal mode in which an image scanning process is executable; and a power saving mode in which less electric power is consumed than in the normal mode. The image scanner includes: a CPU for switching the image scanner between the normal mode and the power saving mode; an original size sensor circuit; and an FPGA connected to the CPU and the original size sensor circuit. In the normal mode, the CPU configures, in the FPGA, a normal-mode circuit needed for the image scanning process. When the image scanner transfers from the normal mode to the power saving mode, the CPU configures, in the FPGA, a power-saving-mode circuit for communicating with the original size sensor circuit, and stops the original size sensor circuit from operating. The power-saving-mode circuit is smaller in circuit size than the normal-mode circuit.

  • Patent number: 7292358
Abstract: There is provided an image forming apparatus which is capable of operating in a stable condition and in an efficient manner by omitting automatic adjustment in the case where there is no necessity of carrying out the automatic adjustment when the image forming apparatus returns from a power-saving mode to a normal mode. A CPU shifts the operation mode of the image forming apparatus to a power-saving mode in which power consumption is saved. The CPU detects at least one of a status of the image forming apparatus before the operation mode is shifted to the power-saving mode and a status of the image forming apparatus in the power-saving mode. The CPU determines the contents of a return process executed when the operation mode returns to a normal mode from the power-saving mode, according to the detected status of the image forming apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6282373
Abstract: The system and method provide bin identification numbers for storage of developed film rolls in a system that provides reliable and effective notification to customers that film rolls they deposited with a vendor for processing are available for retrieval. The method determines whether the generated number is contained in a list of reserved bin numbers. If it is, another number is generated from the received data. This process continues until a generated number is generated that is not on the list of reserved bin numbers. That number is then added to the list and also stored in a data record corresponding to the received data. Upon retrieval of the developed film from the bin having the assigned bin number, the bin number is removed from the reserved list.

  • Patent number: 5436731
Abstract: An image processing apparatus is provided with a counter counted up by the clock of a main CPU and reset by the clock of a subordinate CPU. If the value of the count recorded by the counter is not within a fixed range for a predetermined period of time, the apparatus is judged to have developed an abnormality and a power supply for driving components under the control of the subordinate CPU is turned off. Thus, current supplied by the power supply to such components as a recording motor, thermal head, reading motor, fluorescent lamp, stamping plunger and cutter motor is cut off. Thereafter, even if the apparatus returns to normalcy, the driving power supply for the components under the control of the subordinate CPU will not turn on until the main CPU issues a trigger signal.

  • Patent number: 5239393
Abstract: An image processing system has a reading device for reading an image of an original line by line, which repeats the reading operation at a predetermined cycle. A moving device moves an image reading position of the reading device in accordance with a driving signal. A driving device supplies to the moving device the driving signal for moving the image reading position of the reading device by a pitch line during a time period of the reading operation of a line. A computer generates a signal for instructing resumption of image reading by the reading device after interruption of the image reading. The driving device initiates supply of the driving signal to the moving device before the reading operation, upon reception of the image reading resumption signal generated from the computer.
