  • Patent number: 8385690
Abstract: Automated electronic document design systems and methods for appropriately sizing and positioning uploaded user images into predefined image areas in a product design being created in a Web environment. For an image that is not to be cropped when incorporated into the design, the image is sized to fit within the selected image area and positioned in the image area according to a predefined anchor location. The aspect ratio of the original image is maintained. For an image that is available for cropping when incorporated into the design, the image is sized and cropped to create a version of the image that fills the image container.

  • Patent number: 8134748
Abstract: There has been a problem in that original image data should be saved with another name so as not to be altered, resulting in complexity and an increase in a necessary storage region. Image data are housed in a folder managed as a film metaphor and a database of photographic data 30b corresponding to each image data is prepared. When a desirable image processing is selected for desirable image data, the selected image processing is updated as modification information in the database structure. When display, output or print is actually required, various image processings are executed by referring to modification information on only a work area with original image data left. Therefore, it is possible to easily enjoy image modification or the like with the original image data left as they are.

  • Patent number: 8119967
Abstract: A method of using a line-scan sensor device to scan an image includes determining and removing. The device includes sensor cells arranged in a matrix of rows and columns. The determining includes determining when a pixel signal value from a pixel in a first row and in a column deviates from a pixel signal value from a pixel in a second row and in said column. The removing includes removing the pixel signal value of the pixel in the first row and in said column when the pixel signal value from the pixel in the first row and in said column deviates from the pixel signal value from the pixel in the second row and in said column. The pixel in the first row and in said column images a portion of the image and the pixel in the second row and in said column images the same portion of the image.

  • Patent number: 8089656
Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes an input control unit that receives an input of image data and a first image-processing unit that performs first image processing on image data received from an image reading unit thereby obtaining first-processed image data. A first output control unit selectively-outputs the first-processed image data to any of the input control unit and an external storage unit. A second image-processing unit receives the first-processed image data from the input control unit and performs second image processing on the first-processed image data thereby obtaining second-processed image data, and a second output control unit outputs the second-processed image data.

  • Patent number: 8045187
Abstract: The present invention provides for variable data printing by a print driver. Static print data is received, wherein the static print data is in a page description language. Variable print data is also received, wherein the variable print data comprises one or more sets of variable data. In addition, mapping rule data is received, wherein the mapping rule data comprises rules for mapping the one or more sets of variable data into the static print data. One or more modified versions of the static print data are generated, by applying the rules for mapping the one or more sets of variable data into the static print data. The one or more modified versions of the static print data are output for printing. As such, virtually any application can have VDP functionality, and a less complex VDP solution can be realized.

  • Publication number: 20110222130
Abstract: There is provided a decoloring device including a decoloring unit, a first sheet conveying unit, a pre-decoloring reading unit, a type determining unit, a second sheet conveying unit, a post-decoloring reading unit, a decoloring success or failure determining unit, and a determination criterion setting unit. The type determining unit determines the type of image on the sheet conveyed to the decoloring unit based on the reading result in the pre-decoloring reading unit. The post-decoloring reading unit reads an image on the sheet after the decoloring, which is conveyed by the second sheet conveying unit. The decoloring success or failure determining unit determines whether or not the decoloring in the decoloring unit is successful based on the reading result in the post-decoloring reading unit. The determination criterion setting unit sets a determination criterion in the decoloring success or failure determining unit, based on the type of image, which is determined by the type determining unit.
