Abstract: A limiting member (91) includes a main body (911) and a convexity (912) formed at the upper face of the main body (911). The convexity (912) protrudes like a key toward the front-face side of a case (1). The case (1) has a hole (92) storing the limiting member (91), the hole (92) having an inclined face (921) that is inclined obliquely upward from the rear-face side to the front-face side of the case (1). The hole (92) has a depth larger than the height of the limiting member (91) on the rear-face side, and has substantially the same depth as the front-face side height of the main body (911) on the front-face side. A document cover (4) has a hole (93) including a U-shaped concavity (931) that is open on the rear-face side of the case (1), formed on the front-face side of the case (1). When the limiting member (91) is located on the front-face side of the case (1), the convexity (912) engages with the U-shaped concavity (931).

Abstract: A computer peripheral that may operate as a scanner. The scanner captures image frames as it is moved across an object. The image frames are formed into a composite image based on computations in two processes. In a first process, fast track processing determines a coarse position of each of the image frames based on a relative position between each successive image frame and a respective preceding image determine by matching overlapping portions of the image frames. In a second process, fine position adjustments are computed to reduce inconsistencies from determining positions of image frames based on relative positions to multiple prior image frames. Abstract: An image scanning apparatus includes a housing. A first image sensor (linear scan imager) is attached at a first position along the housing. The first image sensor is configured and adapted to scan an image. A second image sensor (area scan imager) is attached at a second position along the housing. The second image sensor is configured and adapted to scan an image to detect movement of the apparatus in the X and Y axis. Movement in the Y axis of the apparatus as detected by the second image sensor is utilized to trigger the first image sensor. Movement in the X axis of the apparatus as detected by the second image sensor is utilized to correct image defects (e.g. skew) of the image captured by the first image sensor thereby allowing the second image sensor to capture a 2D inspection area.

Abstract: Real-time evaluation and enhancement of image quality prior to capturing an image of a document on a mobile device is provided. An image capture process is initiated on a mobile device during which a user of the mobile device prepares to capture the image of the document, utilizing hardware and software on the mobile device to measure and achieve optimal parameters for image capture. Feedback may be provided to a user of the mobile device to instruct the user on how to manually optimize certain parameters relating to image quality, such as the angle, motion and distance of the mobile device from the document. When the optimal parameters for image capture of the document are achieved, at least one image of the document is automatically captured by the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 8441696
Abstract: A computer peripheral that may operate as a scanner. The scanner captures image frames as it is moved across an object. The image frames are formed into a composite image based on computations in two processes. In a first process, fast track processing determines a coarse position of each of the image frames based on a relative position between each successive image frame and a respective preceding image determine by matching overlapping portions of the image frames. In a second process, fine position adjustments are computed to reduce inconsistencies from determining positions of image frames based on relative positions to multiple prior image frames. Processing of the image frames may allow a scan of an object to be suspended and resumed automatically when a user lifts the scanner, by deleting out of focus image frames and matching subsequent image frames to previously stored image frames.
